I’ve been seeing a lot of perspective tricks pop up on my dash, so I thought I’d share the one I use when drawing backgrounds. I’m working with Photoshop CS4 here.

I’ve had a general idea what these things did but wasn’t completely sure what their specific functions were. I decided to sit down and figure it out, and I have thrown together a short reference guide for anyone who is confused about them. I know there are multiple translations...

Sebastian's list of Mac screen cap software
iShowu: This one is the cheapest one and it had a good amount of options to choose from when recording, I didn't buy it because it was creating a small lag in photoshop while recording but I suppose that's mostly dependent on my Mac specs. http://store.shinywhitebox.com/ishowu-v1 Screenflick: This is the one I bought and used to record some silhouette drawing sessions. I didn't experience any lag while painting so that and the low price was why I chose it. You do have to export the movies after you're done and that can take some time depending on the quality you choose, but the nice thing is that it keeps your original footage saved so you can export it to other formats as many times as you want. http://www.araelium.com/screenflick/ Screenflow: I think this is like the Cadillac for Mac screen recording software and it shows on the price. I tried the demo and had no lag whatsoever and I think the exporting times where faster than Screenflick's if I recall correctly. The price was the only reason I didn't go with this one. http://www.telestream.net/screen-flow/overview.htm

Neil Gaiman’s amazing keynote address to the University of the Arts class of 2012
If you are in any sort of artistic or creative field, or you aspire to, you absolutely need to watch this video. Or if you just like Neil Gaiman. Or if you’re not a heartless bastard. Okay, that last part gets rid of most of you… including me. Damn.
