thinking abt thee long road to destiel love confession: bedlund was like. ok EYE will write the first destiel admission of love [pens "what? i love past you" in 5x04 because well, past-dean reminds him of the dean he fell in love with, the dean that cares about the whole world. gets changed to "like."] then robbie said ok EYE will be the first to write an explicit destiel love confession and DEAN confesses FIRST and they're in an underground space with no windows! [pens "i forgive you. i love you." gets changed to "i need you" which. is honestly a more insane thing to say] then davy perez was like. ok EYE will write the first destiel love confession in 12x12 and cas is saying to dean as he's about to DIE. but then he kinda backtracks it and says he loves everyone. and then finally berens was like, ok i guess it's me. [checks notes] so we got, cas confessing his love and how much he loves dean, specifically highlighting how dean CARES and has a huge heart. and uhh they're in an underground room. with no windows. and cas is about to die. no backtracking this time.

when you realize cas never got a chance to see dean mourn him. to see what his death did to dean. how it broke him completely. SHATTERED. he never saw dean's utter despair. anger. complete hopelessness. he only ever saw dean's joy when he came back. and so cas figured that his death simply didn't affect dean all that much. that dean could be happy with Cas gone. that Dean could go on. Move on. cas never understood that this joy, this hope, this smile on dean's face after he came back was ONLY BECAUSE HE CAME BACK. CAME BACK TO DEAN.
Cas was the REASON.

Season 8 destiel cw_supernatural official instagram account spnblr ass post bedlund blatant confirmation of destiel subtext and network meddling in a podcast they can鈥檛 just be saying shit like that and expect us to NOT expect destiel in season 16. This plus jpad low key castiel erasure in a recent spn revival statement he did and misha blatantly shading jivorce and the finale cas erasure in an april fools article post it all feels like they鈥檙e all testing the waters and trying to see (or prove) what fans would welcome more (destiel vs no destiel) and what I鈥檓 getting from all of it is that there might still be an infighting going on it鈥檚 so funny and scary to think about, but also I鈥檓 living for bedlund just blatantly saying that they buried the destiel subtext he wrote (and probably directed too) like that鈥檚 such a power move tbh because then if s16 destiel does NOT happen or even if it does but it鈥檚 really watered down and buried THEN there鈥檚 absolutely no doubt about WHY it happened he basically just confirmed the reason.
Now I鈥檓 just waiting for jackles to say something.
