Hey guys, I’ve decided to do up a challenge board for October, if anyone’s interested.  If you are, the hashtag’s “#progtober2022″, and the daily prompts are transcribed below.

You don’t have to do it, but it’s here if you wanna.  Also, if you want me to see it, please use the lil hashtag there in the tags of your posts, so I can see it.

Shameless self-promo, sure, but I wanna get this prog-ject growing further than just ELP

(Greggy & Carl fonts coming soon by default lol)

My font prog-ject is back underway, now with new equipment at the ready!

So far, I’ve only got Keith Emerson’s font done, but you can expect more progger-inspired fonts to find its way into the dropbox soon enough!

If you have a request for a font, here’s what I want you to do:

Send me an ask with the first line of “Font Project” or “Font Prog-ject” so I know what it’s about (preferably not anonymously, so you’ll get the notification when I answer it with a link; if you want me to answer privately please also specify that, as this is a thing I can do now)

Tell me what band

If you want a font that vibes of a specific member, give me the band member’s name, too

Choose what sort of vibe you want it to have — Script (handwriting), Gothic (medieval-ish vibe), or Block (typewriter, display, etc.)

Specify if you need special characters; I may have to put it together as two fonts for you to download, but we can get it done!

Be patient, because these things can get frustrating when the planets don’t proper align and such.  Artists out there get what I mean lmao

Check for and in the band folder once a font is uploaded; if a person is most famous for playing with a band, I’ll put their font under there, because there’s a good chance that other people will go looking for stuff related to their fave band without sending an ask, and I wanna make surfing these files as painless as possible

If I’ve already done one that meets your exact request criteria, I’ll link you that and see if that fits your wants and needs.  If it doesn’t vibe with what you’re wanting, let me know, I’ll take another whack at one that might!

Don’t be afraid to request stuff, I don’t bite, and as long as I’m treated vaguely like a sentient being with feelings, all should be chill.

And don’t worry about if the font style seems “hard to do”, okay?  I’ve got a computer program that handles layers, I’ll be fine!, there’s not much that can stop me. 😎

So far, most of these are True-Type font formats, but if you need an Open-Type format, let me know, and I’ll serve you one up right quick, as I keep my font templates and the site I’m using for processing spits out both filetypes.

In theory, you should be able to use these on your phone if your phone allows you to import fonts to use with the system or other programs.  Please don’t ask me how to do this, I don’t know, I have not tried it at all (I use a Motorola that doesn’t allow for this currently, so I’ve not looked into it yet, but I’m sure there’s plenty of sources on the web for you to check out for help).

you know that post about prog rockers and area 51? ( @bad-prog-rock-ideas ) the one that says robert fripp is IN area 51 and you have to sneak into area 51 in order to join king crimson?

i'll actually start this tomorrow

but let me just type

the first one i really thought about was jon anderson i know he's not a real king crimson member but he was on lizard so he counts enough, also don't you just wanna see jon anderson sneaking into area 51 it'd be cute as heck

now, i have a few possible scenarios sorted out for jon, and which one you prefer probably depends on whether you believe in Innocent Jon, Slutty Jon or a combination of the two. (refer to ian's and my long discussion about jon for info on the two interpretations of jon that the fandom seems to have.)

slutty jon would either bribe the guards with, yknow, what he craves, or just seduce them all and then fucking run for it. jump over the fence or something. i don't know what area 51 is like. when robert fripp finds out he considers it cheating but then jon seduces him too

innocent jon is too small to be seen sneaking in at first. then someone spots him so he pretends he got lost. they let him go but then he actually does get lost and calls chris squire for help. chris swims in through the sewers and into the bathtub where they put the aquatic aliens. (luckily there aren't any in it.) he goes and finds jon and gets him out and is like jon what the fuck are you doing why are you in area 51 and jon says robert fripp made me do it and chris is like what... and so jon explains he says robert fripp wants me to sing a part of a new king crimson song that's too high for gordon haskell, but before i can i have to sneak into area 51. chris is like i don't know who's more irresponsible, fripp or you. jon says no i know what i'm doing i just won't get lost next time chris says easier said than done you fucking called me for help i do not need to get caught swimming into area 51. so jon says you're right i should stay away from area 51. by the way, fishy, what's in area 51?

so when jon finds out about the aliens he decides he has to go rescue them. he pulls the getting-lost trick again but it doesn't work because they are on high alert after finding a brown hairball in the alien bathtub. so he activates his fairy progmother powers and makes everyone imagine they're in a field of flowers. he also deactivates all the cameras and things, making them show an endless void of sparkles. he gets in and starts looking for the aliens but he can't find any and ends up trapped in a weird room with a metal door and red carpet. he calls for help but chris is busy fighting bill and none of the govenrment people can hear him cause theyre way too charmed by the progmother magic. then someone taps him on the shoulder it's robert fripp! jon found fripp's room. congratulations come sing for me
