Recommendations

1- Install rainwater collection systems.

Reason - If you will be able to use fresh water for more necessary uses and you will be able to water your garden with rainwater.

2- Avoid contamination.

Reason - Do not pour oils, chemicals or medications down drains to avoid contaminating fresh water.

3- Promote awareness and education.

Reason - Educate the population or people around you about the importance of taking care of fresh water.

4- Implement sustainable agricultural practices.

Reason- Use risk efficient techniques such as drip irrigation to save fresh water.

I live in San Mateo Atenco, and I feel very excited to participate in this project since this topic is very concerning. Water is the source of life, and we must learn to take care of it. For this reason, we share some recommendations:

Collect the cold water from the shower while waiting for it to heat up

Reason: This water can be reused for tasks like watering plants, cleaning, or even flushing the toilet, preventing the waste of potable water.

Use buckets instead of hoses to wash vehicles or surfaces

Reason: Using a bucket to wash your car or clean exteriors significantly reduces water usage, avoiding the waste that often occurs with an open hose.

Install drip irrigation systems

Reason: Drip irrigation allows for more precise control of water use, ensuring that each plant receives just the right amount without waste, especially in dry climates.

Educate the community on efficient water use

1.-Where are they and how do they feel as part of the environmental program volunteer team?

We are located on the Canary Island of El Hierro, Spain. •We are happy to contribute to a cause that is beneficial to society. 2.-Name and purpose of the environmental program "Reverse osmosis desalination process: the sea as a source of hope". the purpose is to show how we can help water scarcity by promoting and explaining the process of reverse osmosis desalination of water. 3.-Five recommendations to continue protecting the environment and why it is important to follow them. •We must reduce the use of water as it is a necessary and vital commodity for present and future generations. •Avoid wasting water, as water scarcity currently affects 40% of the population. •Reuse water, this will help to give it a second use and avoid waste. ▪︎Reduce polluting products that affect drinking water. ▪︎Community participation to promote water care because this way we will be able to prevent more people from wasting the resource.

I am from the State of Mexico and I am very happy to participate in a project where we get ideas on how to conserve water since in my state we have a big problem of water scarcity.

Some ideas that I propose are the following •Wash fruits and vegetables in a container. Instead of washing them with the tap running, do it in a container and then you can reuse that water to water the plants. •Use buckets when washing When you wash your car with a hose you waste too much water, but with a bucket you only use what you really need. •Don't pollute the water Do not pour oils, medications or other chemicals down the drain. •Buy clothes consciously Buy clothes when they are really necessary or you can choose to buy in second-hand stores since textile production requires a lot of water. •Protection of water sources participates in river, lake and beach cleaning activities.

Some of the recommendations and reasons that I have in mind are:

Reduce water consumption: Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving can save up to 10 liters of water a day. The reason is that water is a limited resource and its extraction, treatment and distribution require a lot of energy.

Reuse water: Reusing rainwater or treated wastewater to water plants or clean surfaces can reduce the demand for drinking water. The reason is that rainwater is a free and sustainable source of water.

Avoid wasting water: Fixing water leaks and avoiding running the tap unnecessarily can save a lot of water. The reason is that a small water leak can lose up to 100 liters of water a day.
