SMALL CLARIFICATIONS
I do make some changes to consistent canon across the iterations, so bear with me. I’ll try to clear up the ones that I think are most important.
Hamato — the Hamato Clan is still the Hamato Clan, however I changed the family name to Hamamoto (ex. Hamamoto Yoshi). This is mainly because Hamamoto is an actual last name and it’s conveniently similar to Hamato. I figured if Oroku Saki wasn’t Foot Saki, the turtles could have a break.
Tang Shen — I changed her name to Tang Fen (or Táng Fen) just because Fen is an actual first name. Her father is Chinese, so she gets to keep her last name as it is. Also, in this iteration, she is the parent and teacher of the turtles. I’ll talk about this more in her bio.
Kraang — Don’t worry, I didn’t do anything too crazy here. I just want to clarify that the Kraang in this universe is more of an alien species rather than one alien race. This is due to the band of D’Hoonibians that join the Kraang and the amount of mutants that the Kraang create in attempts make more Kraang or Kraang-adjacents. Many mutants still consider themselves Kraang despite disagreeing with the Kraang’s sentiments.
Splinter and Karai — While Splinter isn’t the sensei we’ve all come to love, he’s still alive and in Japan, raising his daughter, Miwa. They both survived Shredder’s encounter, but were thought to be dead by both Shredder and Fen. Yoshi, thinking Fen is dead, decides to rename himself as Splinter and go into hiding in order to protect himself and Miwa (who is renamed Karai). They both have no idea about Fen or the turtles until Shinigami brings Leonardo to their doorstep.
Casey and Cassandra — Yes, I have both of them in here! Casey takes the regular role of Casey Jones, and Cassandra is his aunt (on his mother’s side). Cassandra is twenty-eight and the head of the Foot Clan, which she joined when she was seventeen. She’s considerably more mellow than her Rise counterpart, but that doesn’t mean she’s not unhinged. Though, as she learns of Casey’s allegiance with the turtles and questioning Shredder’s orders, she begins to deviate and become much more like who she used to be, which is more similar to Rise.

Introducing: Sensei Fang aka Tang Fen/Hamamoto Fen
I’m going to be providing a lot of backstory that was formerly just bullet notes, so bear with me if it is a bit lengthy.
Previously known as Tang Fen (Tang Shen in other iterations), she is the sensei and mother of the turtles. She is a six foot humanoid brown rex rat mutant.
Originally Táng Fen, but was legally changed to Tang Fen when she moved to NYC. She is/was married to Hamamoto Yoshi and they had a daughter, Miwa. She believes they are dead. She had worked as a teacher at a small school in the nearby city.
While not officially a kunoichi in the eyes of the clan, Yoshi taught Fen as much ninjitsu as he could; he thought she was incredibly capable and should be able to defend herself — a sentiment she agreed with, regardless of her feelings on the clan. She knows how to use many weapons, but she prefers her tantō. She didn’t dislike the Hamato Clan, and does appreciate it, she had worried about Yoshi’s devotion to the clan and her father-in-law’s training methods/general behavior. She didn’t want Miwa to grow up the same way Yoshi did, wishing to have her perhaps grow up in the city instead. They didn’t reach a decision before the fight between Yoshi and Saki that changed their lives forever.
She was stuck in a love triangle with Hamamoto Yoshi and Oroku Saki, but really only saw Saki as a good friend and loved Yoshi. Saki never got over his crush and Fen was aware of this, but elected to ignore with the belief that it would go away.
As tensions between Yoshi and Saki rise while Hamamoto Yūta (their father) is deciding who will take over the clan in the event of his death, Fen privately confronts Saki about his feelings for her and implored him to not let Yūta’s decision get in the way of his and Yoshi’s bond. This is when Saki reveals that he recently discovered that he was from the Foot Clan, which the Hamato Clan had wiped out decades before. Disturbed, Fen goes to Yoshi and asks him if he knew this. He knew of the Foot Clan and their rivalry with the Hamato Clan, but not the extent of what the Hamato Clan did. Equally disturbed and now angry, he goes with Fen to confront his father about this in the training room. Yūta refuses to explain himself and leaves the building in anger.
Then, Saki walks in, challenging Yoshi to a duel to regain his clan’s honor. Yoshi tries to talk Saki down, but seeing Yoshi and Fen together only enrages him. He goes to attack Yoshi, which prompts Fen to run upstairs to take Miwa somewhere safe outside. She grabs her tantō and runs back to the fight. Seeing that Saki is about to kill Yoshi, she grabs him. He hits her and throws her off, knocking her unconscious for a little bit. When she wakes, the house is burning and she hears Miwa wailing. She tries to move to Miwa, but she’s disoriented and Miwa’s crying eventually fades. She calls out for Yoshi, but there’s no answer. She barely makes it out of the house. She flees to the nearest clinic. Her injuries are not severe enough to warrant concern, and she is released the next morning.
She tries returning to the house to find any signs of Yoshi or Miwa, but there are very few remains of the house. She takes what she can, including a photo of the three of them in a burnt picture frame. She tries to contact Yūta, but he claims he no longer wants anything to do with his so-called “sons” or her. He throws out everything she could’ve possibly owned and tells her to leave. Not long after, he is killed by Saki.
Fearing Saki is looking for her and running out of places to find Yoshi and Miwa, Fen quits her job and flees to Nagasaki. After months of looking and finding nothing, she concludes that Yoshi and Miwa likely fell victim to Saki as well. When hearing that Saki is reviving the Foot Clan and is allying himself with the Purple Dragons, an small but infamous Chinese-Japanese gang, she decides to leave the country and go to the United States.
She gets a small apartment in Manhattan and a job in Chinatown. She finds the silence of living alone deafening. It was manageable in Nagasaki only because she mostly clung to the hope that her family was still alive. After doing some research, she decides to adopt four red-eared terrapin turtles. The particular four she’s looking at are extremely unique in the sense that they all hatched at the exact same time, thus being marked as “quadruplets” and were the new highlight of the pet store until Fen bought them.
While she’s walking home from the pet store, she gets jumped by men in black suits (the Kraang) whom she fights until they bind her and stuff her in a van, taking her and the turtles. They’re brought to TCRI’s smaller sister location, TBRC (Techno Biological Research Center), where they are experimented on as a part of Project Underground and turned into mutants. Fen bides her time and eventually breaks out of the facility with her four new turtle-sons in tow. She quickly visits her apartment complex, where she discovers her belongings in the trash on the alleyway of the building. Mustering herself and her thrown out items once more, she moves from abandoned place to abandoned place until she finally takes residence in the sewers.
Having fought tooth and nail to protect herself and her turtle-sons, she decides to rename herself as “Fang.” In memory of Yoshi, she decides to name the turtles after his favorite Renaissance artists.
Fang loves her sons to no end and does her best to raise them. She teaches them how to defend themselves and how to stay in the shadows. She teaches them about the Hamato Clan, but she tries to do so in her own way rather than what she saw of Yūta’s, a way she would have preferred for Miwa. She is fairly terrified that the Kraang will come looking for them if they are out in the open. Thus, she is a very protective parent. As her sons begin to prove they are responsible and skilled ninjas, she begins to let them explore the surface on their own, but she still worries. She is also very motherly towards anyone of similar age to her sons, especially April and Casey, who both lack direct parental figures.
That’s all I have for now! Thanks for listening :]

Greetings!
This blog is all about my personal iteration of TMNT called Project: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
I want to go for the same balance of seriousness and humor that iterations like 2012 aim for while still retaining the really cool ideas from all versions. If I were to say which iterations are the biggest influence, I’d probably say 2012 and ROTTMNT, however I take ideas from a variety of other sources, and also come up with a whole bunch of my own! I feel like I’ve really gone out there with some of this stuff and I hope everyone likes it as much as I do!
I’m probably going to slowly trickle out info over the next couple days just because I’m a little busy. But if you’re interested, stay tuned for our favorite red-eared terrapins! The first character reveal is Splinter. Or, should I say, Fang?
