Do you believe people should get drug tests before receiving government benefits? For illegal drugs like opioids, that cost a lot of money to obtain? That way the money goes to people that are hard workers and need it to support families.
No. Poor people are just as trustworthy as higher class folks.

Research shows that it would take more resources to do the drug testing than the fraud would be.
Taking away welfare programs definitely wouldn't help.

I do care. I just don't think mandatory drug testing for welfare programs is the answer :)

Why spend so much money on something that's been shown to be a non-issue?

Unfortunately I have experienced that first hand. It did not work out well. Good teams need strong leaders in order to organize the work force. If there is no leader, the team falls apart and there is usually fighting. And again, into the industrialized world, has there been a socialist system that works
Having a leader doesn't mean the group doesn't have input.

Unfortunately that cannot happen, because in order for any society to work it must have a leader or it would be chaos. Also, is there a historic example of a truly working socialist state in an industrialized nation that did not collapse. Socialism really only looks good on paper but when it is tried, the economy collapses. There's no drive to work if everything is free. And if there is no work, there would eventually be nothing. Then everyone starves.
The point of socialism isn't that everything is free - it's that the workers make the decisions rather than a small group of bosses.

And how does that actually give you a voice on how the company is run? It doesn't increase your wage.

That's what charity is for. Unfortunately, socialism leaves nothing but destruction in its wake [i.e. Venezuela today, where millions are starving], so, it is better to have a system where the haves help the have nots, instead of taking the money from everyone and having an equal level of poverty
Venezuela was a dictatorship, not really a socialist state. The important thing about socialism is that when it becomes the state controlling the means of production rather than the people, it's gone wrong.

But I will agree the Republican party is struggling. In general the federal government is struggling. It's run by people with agendas. I personally believe we should let the towns decide how they run their economies based on what the people vote for, so certain towns can become socialist if they want, while others are capitalist. This way, the people decide what they want without forcing it onto others.
It would be great to get things to a more local level, but when my community lacks resources and people but yours does, how can there possibly be equality.

I just don't want people taking tax money to pay for drugs when we can give them to families in need. This is why to me, charity work is better than taxes. By donating not just money, but time, people know what their money is going to. The first step to this is teaching morales and values to all children.
The numbers don't show that welfare frauds and similar issues are really a widespread problem regarding drugs. It's great to support charity and foster care an solidarity with and for the poor. That won't cut it though. Capitalism as a system demands haves and have-nots.

So then why is the money from my labor given to a corporate boss? Why not run businesses as a democracy?

I was actually thinking everyone. I have family who works for the state and they get drug tested. It isn't about not trusting people because of class, I just think anyone that gets government benefits, regardless of class, should get tested for drugs.
That's better than picking and choosing, but I'm not totally sure if the answer.

And capitalism doesn't do that?
I don't disagree that Obama didn't have a spectacular track record on consistent human rights. But trump is worse.
