Promaps Technology at 2020 EPRI Workshop in Krakow
Promaps Technology has been invited to participate and present at the 2020 EPRI Workshop “The Control Center of the Future” in Krakow Poland in April. The Workshop is an invite only, not open for the general public. The workshop will focus to envisage the 2030 system and discuss what, data, software, hardware and human performance improvements will be needed to bridge the gap. EPRI is partnering with RTE and ENTSO-E for this workshop.
The Electric Power Research Institute, Inc. (EPRI), is an American independent, nonprofit organization that conducts research and development related to the generation, delivery, and use of electricity to help address challenges in electricity, including reliability, efficiency, affordability, health, safety, and the environment.
ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators, represents 43 electricity transmission system operators (TSOs) from 36 countries across Europe, thus extending beyond EU borders. ENTSO-E was established and given legal mandates by the EU's Third Package for the Internal energy market in 2009, which aims at further liberalizing the gas and electricity markets in the EU.

20/02/2020 Lyse Elnett in collaboration with Promaps Technology AS
Promaps Technology AS will, on behalf of Lyse Elnett, through an R&D project develop a data interface between Promaps Realtime and Lyse Elnett's UNC model interface, which allows for near real-time and forecasted risk analyzes of Lyse Elnett's power system. UNC relies on ESRI's ArcGIS Utility Network Management.
In addition to developing the UNC data interface, the R&D project will identify needs in the various work processes in Lyse Elnett's value chain, adapt and develop the Promaps Realtime software for a uniform and holistic risk analysis of the Lyse Elnett power system.
A bit about the philosophy of UNC from their website:
Benefits of UNC: Reusing data, combining data from various sources for better system insights, based on structured information increasing efficiency, facilitating greater degree of automated processes.
Objective of UNC - Utility network community: Develop and publish an open data model standard that supports the European power system configuration and complies with international standards (IEC-CIM and INSPIRE). Ensure that Esri supports the European power system model and business processes. Encourage other power system companies to adopt and use the same model.

If today's power systems are exposed to unpredictable destabilising factors, then the opportunities and challenges of tomorrow's systems could increase the risks. Extreme weather, decentralized generation assets, new technologies and entirely novel systems for distributing and trading energy are just a few of the factors that are transforming energy systems globally.
Whilst there are immense opportunities for positive change, adverse consequences are equally likely - and dramatic. Quite simply, without a reliable energy supply, nothing works. From hospitals to houses, from industry to school - our way of life cannot be secure without energy security.
That's why Promaps has developed software that ensures security of supply and power systems that are fit for tomorrow. Here’s a 2 minute overview of how Probabilistic Risk Analysis supports complex power systems.
