I was sitting on the couch in a great snuggle with the cat but I had to reach over and behind me to the table behind the couch to get her medicine and a glove for the medicine. so my arm is angled all weird as I’m reaching back and suddenly there’s a horrible piercing pain and I think oh fuck I’ve fucked a nerve in my spine. I proceed to medicate the cat and then rub and dig around trying to figure out what horrible thing I’ve done to my spine this time.

I hear the buzz of wings but don’t think anything of it. Stink bugs are just sort of eveyfuckingwhere around here and it’s not too wild to have one in the house from time to time.

then I look over and see the YELLOW JACKET on the arm of the couch next to me

good news is my spine is fine and presumably I am not allergic to yellow jackets as I’m still able to swallow and breathe and it’s been a good 30 minutes now. I think maybe this is only the 2nd? 3rd? time I’ve ever been stung in my life and certainly since childhood so I’m feeling rather emotionally vulnerable about it :( it’s scary and it hurts quite a lot :(
