i rewatched symphogear season 1 today
so anyway have i told y'all how much i love hibiki tachibana?
#what a coincidence#so did i#I've seen people say season 1 doesn't hold up that well#but aside from the animation quality I think I actually liked it more this time#the smaller cast really helps with some of the pacing issues that become pronounced in later seasons#and while finé's a pretty whatever villain#she fulfills her narrative function well enough#and she doesn't feel like she's taking up screentime that'd be better spent on other characters#unlike a certain AXZ villain

The best part about symphogear is that it is distinctly not a harem anime, but the optimal ship chart of the main cast is a radiation symbol with Chris in the center. They are going to give this poor traumatized tsundere love and affection and healing whether she wants it or not.

I hope Anji's running gag continues to be him doing something completely different every time the narrative camera pans back to him. Is he still chasing after Asuka? Trying to build a home with Baiken and Delilah? Running errands for Chipp? Making umbrellas? Vibing in the Colony with May and presumably Haehyun? All of those things at once, yes.
My boy is in a state of superposition, and, while I'm not sure if that's deliberate characterization or just a symptom of nobody in the writers' room particularly caring about him, I love it all the same.
