Eudialyte syenite
Isn’t that a delightful color? The mineral with the strong color is Eudialyte, a fairly rare mineral found in igneous rocks with a unique composition. Eudialyte’s crystal structure has a number of rare elements in it, typically including zirconium and some of the rare earth elements, in addition to the silica species that make up the backbone of the mineral.

A tigress at an animal rescue center in Germany has been fitted with a gold dental implant after cracking a tooth on one of her toys. You will never be as cool as this tiger, and that is okay, because you are a mere mortal shell made of meat and fear, and she is a tiger with a gold fang.

THIS is what i mean when I say animal rights groups are absolute garbage that waste time, resources and money, all whilst doing nothing for animal’s welfare.
peta have ruined a person’s life and career over a fucking photo. This is what peta does with it’s donated money and resources. This is what you’re supporting when you support animal rights groups.

a beautiful whole gannet! 🖤 I am so lucky, the lovely lady who found the gull has agreed to send me some bits if she finds them in return for anything she wants back, and I was able to get this whole boy!! 😍 he weighed a ton, only damage being something had snacked through his rear, and this was almost definitely post mortem. I will be cleaning his skeleton and making a beautiful wall hanger ♥️

Pyrenula cruenta
Bark rash lichen
I swear, these images are not as gory as they look. Yes, this is in fact a lichen–P. cruenta, to be exact. This crustose lichen forms a thin, smooth thallus of bright red or olive brown. Instead of apotehcial ascomata, this species produces perethecia, which are cavities in the lichen thallus with a tiny opening called an ostiole from which spores are ejected. The perethicia of P. cruenta have a gently sloping clypeus (shield-like growth covering the perithecia) covered in a thick, dark layer of red pruina, and can be isolated or aggregated. P. cruenta grows on smooth barked trees in moist, tropical, undisturbed forests. The chemicals responsible for that red coloration are, get this, DRACULONE and haematommone. I know, right? Coolest names for red pigments ever. These pigments probably work like a sunscreen and help to protect this lichen from bright, tropical sunlight. Though it may give me a heart attack when I catch a glimpse of it, I really hope I get a chance to encounter this lichen in the wild someday! Particularly because that means I will be somewhere nice and warm. One can only dream …

look at this douchebag.
this is a dumbo octopus. they’ve been found so far in the deep sea around 1000m to 4800m deep, making them some of the deepest living octopi discovered at this point.
there’s 13 species within their genus (Grimpoteuthis), all of which are brilliant. they even come in different colors ( red, white, pink, brown, or clear) like any self respecting fashion conscious species. they are born already being able to fully defend themselves. they never go through the awkward period of being a shitty infant, which instantly makes them better than us.
the fins on it’s head that appear to be pushing it along actually do a much different job. they are used to siphon in water to later push out their ass to propel them. how fucking wicked is that.
these cephalopods are cute as shit and incredibly energy efficient. instead of actively catching prey they float around and shit until food comes to them. then they eat their prey whole. they do all of this without even being able to produce ink. that’s so metal.
despite literally being the best species ever they only have a lifespan of 3 to 5 years. this already short lifespan is being threatened by pollution. y’all have no idea how much this pisses me off. no species, especially dumbo octopi deserve to suffer because of people.
i love them so much.
