     He’d finally gotten six out of seven, even if… unforeseen circumstances kept him busy for a bit longer than he was hoping. Not too bad though, he just needed one more before he could swing on back to Tails’ place.

     His search only took him a couple more minutes of globe trotting, but he did finally manage it. The seven emeralds were with him again- though that wouldn’t last and he knew it. They always seemed to up and vanish on him after they stopped being needed for something. He’d worry about that later though, for now he had to get on home… which took him all of a couple more seconds.

     “Hey Tails!” Sonic greeted as he skidded to a halt just outside the fox’s workshop. “How long was I out? I gotta pretty crazy story about that t’ tell you later-”

      He wouldn’t admit the teeny bit of relief that came from hearing the familiar screech of Sonic’s shoes against the dirt just outside. He peeked out, just to check, and set his hands on his hips as he watched Sonic come to a stop.“Jeez! Talk about taking forever-- that was at least like-- like half an hour!” Tails chided, but not without a smile sneaking onto his maw; he couldn’t stay mad at Sonic, it just wasn’t in him. Plus, if Sonic was back...

      “You got the Emeralds? All of them?” He asked, eyes quickly widening in awe as he trotted the few steps to meet up with the hedgehog. It seemed to take him a moment to process his words before he scrunched his brow in question. “Crazy story? What happened? Emerald hunting isn’t usually too crazy...”

      “Wow--- I guess I was pretty cooped up for a while there, huh?”
