     — Julian wasn’t even aware of which state he was in let alone the name of the town. It was small, secluded and he hoped both of those things would work in his favor to hide him from the hunters until he was well enough to hit the road again. Unless he wanted to permanently live at sea— which meant utter seclusion— he had to keep running.
But first, he decided to stop and rest a while and take care of his wounds.
Grateful that the low caliber bullet hadn’t gone deep and he was able to extract it with a wire hanger and tweezers, Julian approached the apothecary for the needed medicinal herbs to treat it. A hospital was out of the question, they reported gunshot wounds to the police and that would bring the hunters down on his head.
“Sorry to bother you, love. I just need to purchase some turmeric, honey, devil’s claw and capsaicin if you got it?” the fair-haired boy smiled thinly at her. He was polite enough, but the expression was strained under pinched features made pale and sweaty by pain. He’d have to stop off at a pharmacy next for gauze and made a mental note of that as paranoia crept in and he hoped that she didn’t think anything of the fact that everything he needed and was asking for was to treat pain and infection.

Victoria stood in stunned silence for a moment as she stared at the tall fair-haired boy standing in her doorway. She had treated enough injuries in her time to know that he was hurt by the expression on his face and strained tone of voice that he seemed to be hiding. She didn’t care to ask questions as her only concern was to help. In an instant she was moving to walk by him, softly brushing his shoulder as she went, to gather a wooden chair that she dragged near the boy.
“Sit” was all she said before moving once again, this time to weave in and out of her garden and behind a few shelves as she gathered what she would need. When she returned with a handful of supplies, she asked “How bad is it? Bleedy heavily? Or has that gone down? Have you put any pressure on the wound?” a handful of questions, each one leaving her mouth in a sing-song fashion as she hurried to make a paste out of the collected herbs. She could help a little, at least, before he may need a doctor. Victoria would be unable to tell how bad it was until she began to treat the wound.

It had been a while since Victoria had kept her feet rooted in the ground but in her short time of living at Knife’s Edge, she had found a home. This morning she had spent her time in her newly opened apothecary; the doors were wide open and the sign suggested that visitors were allowed to come in but Victoria was nowhere in sight.
She was spending her time in the outside garden, her feet bare and dirty as she was tending to one of her many plants. She hadn’t even heard the person enter her shop as she hummed quietly to herself. But when they cleared their throat, it caused Victoria to jump.
“Oh--I’m sorry!” she squeaked “How can I help you?”

Victoria lived in the forest for fifty years before she ever stepped foot outside of it. To her, the forest and its residence were her home and she saw no reason to leave. Until the fire. There had been a number of forest fires in her time living in the forest but none as bad as this. It had started fast and managed to burn its way through to the middle of the forest in a matter of minutes. She knew she had to stop it but could do nothing but watch as the fire cracked and took down tree after tree. She could do nothing but run away; the fire was too out of control.
She ended up wandering for a number of years, never truly finding a home, until she accidentally stumbled upon the town of Knife’s Edge. It was an unpleasant name but the residents were not. After spending a short amount of time there, Victoria decided to settle herself down and opened a apothecary shop just on the outskirts of the enchanted forest.

get to know me meme: 1/10 actresses: Lily Collins
In the end when you accept yourself for who you are and you work with what you’ve got, you couldn’t be more beautiful because you’re confident and everyone notices.
