spoilers ahead i wanna preface by saying that i finished this movie exactly 37 minutes ago (at least at the time i'm writing this) and i say that to say all my thoughts are kind of jumbled, that being said, let's talk about it. this is a long one !

my dislikes (there's many)

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ a lot of about this movie feels somehow disconnected and overly connected to the first but not how it should be. like nile not thinking her dreams were important but there was such a heavy emphasis in the first movie on dreams and how they connect them to each other so for her to think of them as a non-factor is odd, but we continue the plot about booker not wanting to be immortal and in the end he gets his wish, very weird to have continuity on one thing and not the other

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ the last part of this movie felt very slow, i honestly didn't realize it was over until the credits came on, even if they were doing a part 2, this still doesn't feel like a good stopping point. the main issue being the jump from andy and discord's fight to andy and quynh in the library, there's an odd disconnect that i don't like even if you could say it was said.

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ everything felt very predictable in a way, not that predictable is bad because i still enjoyed it for the most part. the only thing that genuinely shocked/intrigued me was the lore on nile being the last immortal and that the immortality can be transferred.

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ back to nile thinking the dreams are a nonfactor, this felt very out of character for her like it really irks my soul because that just didn't feel like her. like it really bugged me.

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ discord as a character felt so...bland and one-dimensional. i like the reveal that she's actually mortal, but i don't like how we the audience didn't get to see much of her. we see quynh doing the dirty work and discord is just...around. i get she's this character that even our main characters know nothing about but how are we supposed to be made to fear what she can do to the main characters if we don't see her ??????

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ last but not least (at least for this section), wtf was going on with joe and nicky ???? they felt...off. in the first part, i chalked it up to the secret but affection wise, it feels like it wasn't the same as in the first movie, it felt more muted. they're the same yet very different and i hate that

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ nile nile nile my shaylaaaaaaa. i love nile sooo much and i always will. nile has always been my favorite, mainly bc she looks like me and i rarely get to see black girls in action movies in a movie like this. like duh there are black action movies and black characters in action movies, but it's not the same. i'll touch on this a later time.

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ i really love the dynamic andy and nile have. "do we get any days off?" "you're such a millennial nile." they're just very near and dear to my heart. like yes nile don't play about andy, but andy don't play about nile at all (or the rest of the team). they're kindred spirits and as much as discord wants to constantly say her and nile are the same bc first and last immortals + the birthmark, it's truly nile and andy who are.

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ the entire andy and quynh arc was very dear to me. i was hoping for a kiss but i think the best of their relationship is in their devotion to each other. the angst was so sad, but you could feel their feelings. andy's guilt and shock at seeing quynh again knowing she didn't save her. the betrayal of seeing quynh work with discord. quynh's hurt, anger, and betrayal at thinking andy was stuck somewhere without her, fighting just like she had, but she was walking around. quynh taking the necklace back because andy broke her promise, but in a way, not because she spoke of her and thought of her everyday. there's still so much to be talk about but right now they can't and that's okay because they will (i hope)

⋆༺𓆩⚔𓆪༻⋆ last but not least, i lovedddd the action, it's just sooo fun.

in the end, i just hope we get a third movie that feels more aligned with the first one, doesn't take 5 years, and can do these characters and their stories justice, especially nile. also rip booker, i still didn't fuck with you, but i was sick asf when you got, got
