The most challenging task is not to change the idea of a product, but to change the perception of a person. As it is rightly noted, the television industry is the most powerful, yet the most diverse form of mass communication, a form of media used to present the most absurd ideas and opinions in a way which appeals to most.
With fame comes the yearning for power, often leading to negative results. The personality allocated to you rose to fame in a span of time, but eventually garnered unexpected outrage from the masses.
Task:
You are required to come up with a TV show- the personality being the protagonist. It is of utmost importance to change the perception and portray the personality in a positive light, so as to attract support from the masses.
Participants, each of you have to come up with your own plot for the TV shows. You will be making the plot on your own.
PR participants, you are a PRO hired by the organization/company that is making the show and you must come up with an appropriate show that changes the very way that people think about the celebrity.
Please note that the show could be of any genre.

The Royal End

The Royal Charter is a formal document issued by a monarch as letters patent, granting a right or power to an individual or a body corporate. In 1930s England, a royal charter was the only way to set up a company and allowed them to trade overseas with considerable rights and powers. More importantly, the organisation with the royal charter would also be completely funded by the Royal family itself.
There existed heavy competition among firms and traders, each vying for the lucrative charter. Therefore, in order to appease the King and the higher echelons of the British parliament, a proposal is to be made by the 5 industries wherein they will present to the King and the parliament members and convince them that their industry is best suited to receive the Royal Charter. The participants will also be negotiating amongst themselves and will be allowed to strike mutually beneficial deals. Keep in mind that the year is 1932 and England is suffering from the great depression and several other socio-economic factors are at play.
Each participant is allotted an industry each, the five being Banking, Steel, Railways, Agriculture and finally Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals.

Participants, here is a list of dignitaries who are going to be present at the Gala today. Please make sure you keep their hobbies and interests in mind, when you pitch to them.
1) Ashwin- Creative Director, Louis Vuitton.
A sports enthusiast, and an environmentalist, he loves music, movies and travelling. Appreciates luxury in every form, and believes in quality over quantity.
2) Juhi- Creative Director, Versace.
Passionate about food, art and dance. A die hard feminist and a lover of adventure sports. An extremely philosophical person by nature.
3) Varun- Creative Director, Moschino.
He's anything but mainstream. Be it his choice in TV shows, Stand-up specials or music. He is a fan of anything unusual and unique. Loves to explore various cultures and languages.
4) Yukta- Creative Director, Valentino.
A fan of international cinema, adventure sports, and pop culture. Apart from being an animal rights enthusiast, she never misses a chance to travel and satisfy her wanderlust.
5) Kushagra- Creative Director, Dolce and Gabbana.
Has a thing for heavy metal music, psychology, biking and reading. Volunteers for various social causes, including rights for the LGBTQ community.
6) Prarthana- Creative Director, Gucci.
Being an avid environmentalist, she's a firm believer of sustainable fashion. She is deeply interested in politics and does not fear to voice out her opinions. She also loves to read and travel.
7) Vivaan- Creative Director, Tommy Hilfiger.
A tech-savy person who loves to own the latest technology at any point. A big foodie, who loves to try different cuisines, and extremely fashion conscious.
8) Sayam- Creative Director, Prada.
He loves to explore the architecture of different locations, and feels very strongly against gender and religious discrimination. He's always the first one to update himself with the changing fashion trends.

Colloquially and affectionately referred to as ‘fashion’s biggest night out’, the Met Gala is a pinnacle of iconic style. A fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the event welcomes celebrity stars, young creatives, and industry paragons alike. 
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual spring fashion show has become an institution in its own right, with the red-carpet event and dinner that precedes it – the Met Gala – raising more than $12.5 million for the museum last year, while more than half a million visitors flocked to the exhibition itself.
By now, the flurry around the first Monday in May is all too familiar: the flashbulbs firing and couture gowns trailing the red carpet, each year, attendees are asked to dress according to the theme of the spring exhibition. Andrew Bolton, Head Curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute was responsible for deciding upon the "camp" theme for 2019.
Fashion is very relevant to cultural conversation, it can be a very sophisticated and powerful political tool, especially for marginalized cultures if channelized in an appropriate manner. 
The issue is that whether it’s pop camp, queer camp, high camp or political camp, despite its good intentions, the Met theme rarely manages to maintain its true essence and fails to create the supposed social impact that it envisions.
You as representatives of your cities are supposed to bid for the right to host an annual gala that will break down boundaries. You are allowed to address concerns about racial and religious prejudices, body stereotypes, inclusion of the disabled and the disfigured, feminist causes etc. but keep in mind that it is a very thin rope that you’re treading on and it is crucial that socio-political statements at events such as these does not temper down fashion's core promise of design, innovation and glamour. 
Today, adopting a "cause" is perhaps the fastest way to make a statement - even a fashion statement. Designers want to use their fame and creative genius to do some social good and this could very well be the platform for that.
All the same, if done carelessly, it can end up being superfluous and gimmicky, where the cause highlighted is merely an eyeball grabbing technique instead of something with genuine empathy and this might cause celebrities and fashion labels to turn down the invite and not attend the gala.
As representatives of the planning committee, you are tasked with the role of designing the theme for the Gala in 2020 keeping in mind that the show has to uphold a specific social cause and communicate social and cultural statements. In 2020, rather than raising funds for an annual exhibition, the focus of the committee will be to raise funds for social benefits and campaigns that aim to relieve marginalized sects of society, the guest list as well as the functions within the gala should be designed keeping that in mind.

With the cricket world cup in full flow, Hasan Minhaj an Indian-American comedian on his netflix special Patriot Act has talked about deep-rooted corruption in the sport, turning the lens on to the influence wielded by money and power in the gentleman’s game by the governing bodies, particularly India.
The International Cricket Council has essentially been controlled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for several years now as India generates over 70 per cent of the revenue in the game.
This growth in India, has come at the expense of the global expansion of the game as the Big 3 in the sport – India, Australia and England – have changed contracts using their influence in the ICC and corner most of the revenues.
The most egregious example of this influence was the change in format of the ICC World Cup, which will be played in a round-robin format for the first time since 1992. There would only be 10 teams participating in the tournament being held in UK and there would be no associate nation taking part.
The format would ensure that Indians play at least nine matches in the World Cup and reduces the chances of an underdog making the knockout stages.
Minhaj also points out how the emergence of the Indian Premier League and the rise of its first chairman Lalit Modi played a major role in the process of bringing BCCI to its current state.
The IPL’s chairman is not the only individual accused of rigging IPL bids and corruption, money laundering activities have been carried out by the BCCI due to the large inflow of revenue through franchise cricket and large sums of these have been through unverified sources.
As Representative of the International Cricket Council, you are required to take a stance on this issue by proving that the ICC is an independent body that aims to efficiently govern the sport. Indicate as to how the BCCI hasn’t interfered in the administrative decisions of the board and how the board plans to execute the global expansion of cricket by diluting the powers of the Big-3.

Slumdog Millionaire

Asia's largest slum, Dharavi, lies on prime property right in the middle of India's financial capital, Mumbai (Bombay).
It is home to more than a million people. Many are second-generation residents, whose parents moved in years ago.
Today's Dharavi bears no resemblance to the fishing village it once was. A city within a city, it is one unending stretch of narrow dirty lanes, open sewers and cramped huts.
In a city where house rents are among the highest in the world, Dharavi provides a cheap and affordable option to those who move to Mumbai to earn their living.
Rents here can be as low as 185 rupees ($4/£2.20) per month. As Dharavi is located between Mumbai's two main suburban rail lines, most people find it convenient for work.
Even in the smallest of rooms, there is usually a cooking gas stove and continuous electricity.
Many residents have a small colour television with a cable connection that ensures they can catch up with their favourite soaps. Some of them even have a video player.
Dharavi also has a large number of thriving small-scale industries that produce embroidered garments, export quality leather goods, pottery and plastic.
Most of these products are made in tiny manufacturing units spread across the slum and are sold in domestic as well as international markets. The annual turnover of business here is estimated to be more than $650m (£350m) a year.
Your task:
Godrej Properties Limited, a subsidiary of Godrej Industries Ltd. Is a real estate company with its head office in Mumbai.
The company is currently developing projects that are estimated to cover more than 89.7 million square feet, and it now plans to develop a luxury apartment in the heart of Dharavi.
However in order to get the project started, there are a couple of hurdles that the company has to face:
1. Governmental permission regarding acquisition of land and collaborative efforts with the government in order to develop an effective waste disposal system.
2. Evacuation of the current residents and their relocation: Most residents of Dharavi have lived there for almost all their lives and are now reluctant to leave their homes and relocate. They are also convinced that there is no place other than Dharavi that could give them a house at such a prime location with such cheap rents and a regular income through the small scale industries.
3. Attracting buyers for the apartment: The cramped houses, the open drains and the narrow lanes of Dharavi may have attracted a lot of foreign tourists, but are looked down upon by the upper class of Mumbai which considers the slum to be inhabitable, owing to its non-existent waste disposal system and the lack of sanitation and public health facilities. When buying a luxury apartment, the crème of the city, prefers to locate to a posh sea-facing area, not to an overpopulated slum.
Thus, as the PRO of Godrej Properties Limited, you are required to:
Obtain governmental permission to refurbish Dharavi. Give a detailed plan of the Luxury apartment that is going to be built, keeping in mind the safety and hygiene requirements that are necessary. Come up with an alternative plan for the relocation of the current residents (ensuring that they do not lose out on their income) and convince them as to why it would be a better choice for them to move out of the slum.
You are required to launch a PR campaign to change the perception of the upper class of the city in order to get them to buy the luxury apartment in the former slum.

Sometimes the best way to create and publicize a name is to drag its way through the dirt. The derivations are different but these formulas always work. Such was an attempt that was made by the makers of Game of Thrones in order to attract attention to the series. It proved the best way to popularize the show in conducive markets where it profited even more, mainly due to this act which was staged as an eventuality, despite the huge financial losses the company suffered.
Another example is that of Starbucks baristas misspelling people’s names on purpose, it generates a lot of chatter in social media and keeps Starbucks in the minds of the people.
You, the participant are to select an existing product/service or make one of your own and promote it by using an unconventional publicity stunt or PR strategy. The PRO’s are required to come up with similarly staged actions and its subsequent effect with unconventional PR. It is necessary for the PROs to spread the fire without getting their own hands burnt.
Similarly, they have to select their own product and use similar lines of strategies which comes at a cost but is worth the effort.
You will have to start a page on Instagram using the name of the product or service you use and promote there as well. Provide constant updates and amass followers, keep your profile buzzing with information regarding the campaign

Theranos

The story of the rise and fall of Elizabeth Holmes has captivated public imagination, at the age of 19, Holmes dropped out of her chemical engineering degree at Stanford University to found Theranos – a company which promised to revolutionize healthcare. Its technology was said to be able to diagnose a range of conditions from a single drop of blood. Holmes succeeded in convincing many to back her promises, acquiring millions of pounds of investment and leading to her company being valued at $10bn in 2014. But it transpired the claims were false. The testing didn’t work. There was no product.
The scale of this scam has left many wondering how such high-profile investors were duped. People are blaming the “toxic”, “fake it till you make it”, “move fast, break things” culture of Silicon Valley.
To say we must reject the “fake it till you make it” culture of which Holmes’ narrative has become so central a part, is simply too easy. Despite it going some way to explain the climate in which the fraud could take place, there will always be an element of speculation and risk in any entrepreneur’s pitch to acquire capital.
And with Silicon Valley’s culture being premised on a spirit of nonconformity and anti-regulation, calls for regulation and change will only perpetuate more of the aggressive self-belief and blind ambition that Holmes’ narrative represents.
Now it is the year 2030, after serving the proposed charges, Theranos is trying to re-enter the bio-tech industry, come up with viable strategies to counter the impending backlash from the Sillicon Valley, this would involve getting necessary funding from investors and reinventing the public perception of the company and what it stands for.
