Sudo, she/her. I write stuff sometimes. Probably a strange supernatural entity when you're not looking. This blog is one part life and five parts DP, Submas, and MP100. I’m sorry for nothing.

Anime is great. Anime will be like “this is my character of ambiguous western descent. Their name is the most incomprehensible combination of made up sounds. And if not that, it is a name that has not appeared on a single birth certificate since 1773.
Code Geass went and said “most of these character hail from Future Sort-of-Britain, including our main character, who will be named Lelouch just like every single British person isn’t.” Then they decided to distract you from this by naming his love interest Shirley, cornering the market of 80+ year old grandmothers clutching their 3 bowls of strawberry sucker candy in delight. Code Geass didn’t even call it a day here they had one more trick up their sleeve and it was to name the third character in the group Rivalz, a name and a character which appeal to exactly no one.
Tiger and Bunny said “What should our western young-20′s heartthrob successful pretty-boy deuteragonist be named? What screams ‘young’ and ‘trendy’ and ‘brilliant’ and ‘sexy’? Barnaby. Barnaby Brooks. This is our Sex Symbol Barnaby.” I bet a bunch of ghosts from the 17th century were stoked about that one. I bet Barnaby walks into gift shops asking if they have any of the travel keychains in his name and he gets laughed out of the store. I bet Barnaby’s parents didn’t die, they just faked their deaths to get away from him seeing as they hated him enough to name him Barnaby.
I haven’t followed Attack on Titan in 7 years but yall have a character named Pieck Finger. That’s it that’s my roast.

If things are going bad in your life the most important thing you can do is fixate on a era of your life you can never return to. It is really important to romanticize it and remember it so incorrectly that it’s more of a false idol for worship than a memory. No one has ever successfully returned to the idealized past but you will be the first to succeed. You will succeed you simply must recreate a false and limping facsimile of who you were back then. You must ignore your beautiful opportunities to live your present life. It is important to unbury a peaceful corpse and climb inside it. I promise it will feel just as good as you remember.

A horrific shambling abomination is magically transformed into a human and the story treats this as body horror. It immediately falls over into the dirt because it isn't used to balancing on legs or having bones, It claws at its too-few eyes with too-blunt nails and screams in a voice that is utterly alien to it, the ever-present singing of the cosmos is silenced as its myriad senses dull to nothing.
And all of this is made worse by these things, these hideous things that have warped its form to match their own, telling it in condescending tones that they have saved it. That they are the perfect beings, the default beings, and that surely all creatures must long for their shape. That this is better than being what it was before.

All hail Sir Chonks the Chonkinator, stealer of bread, soiler of unsuspecting bald heads!
I think the fattest wild pigeon in a given city should be venerated as a sort of civic deity.

Well to be honest my hypothetical kid would get the "no" to an Interesting Colour because it would probably end up violating their school's dress code and earn them a bunch of detentions, and I don't really want them to suffer having a bunch of detentions for having Really Cool Hair.
Whee school uniform countries!
@ parents who dont let their kids dye their hair: why r u so afraid of ur kid looking cool

Did You Know: The origin of the mermaid statue of Anvil is unknown, the statue predates the city? Speculation of its subject include an unknown aspect of a Divine, a sea-dwelling civilization's version of Azura, or a selkie who guides lost sailors back to the shore.

I'm usually in fandoms specifically because I want more canon.
I don't mind some great AUs, but I cut the line on characterisation. If it's too OOC I have trouble reading it, my brain basically just starts throwing exception errors. I do well with expansion of characterisation (now that's a good steak!) but not violation of it.
I'm not saying don't do this or anything, just that after a point I can't read it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
there's a p common attitude in fandom spaces (fandom in general, not a specific one) that's like "why care about canon, or the characters being ooc? we're here to play with the dolls any way we like" and as much as i obviously am a person who thinks about canon a lot in theory i'm into that. in practice though when popular fanon takes things in a wildly different direction from canon so often it's in the service of taking something that was originally canonically weird and interesting and making it blander. it's flattening a complex character into a broad archetype i've seen a million times before, it's taking two characters with a complicated canonical relationship and writing them in a way where you could find-and-replace the names with any other popular migratory slash fandom pairing and the fic would make as much if not more sense. if you're going to break away from canon at least do something interesting? don't make it less weird? i feel like i'm watching someone take a really beautiful expensive cut of wagyu steak and grind it into hamburger to cook it well done and cover it in ketchup

Okay okay okay. I accept it - I am a seething ball of rage of a person. That is unlikely to change without years more therapy. So the question becomes - how to put that rage to a good use rather than just stewing in it?
