New sketch; titled ā€œall my wolves must starveā€, (related to the ā€˜two wolves inside you’ fakelore). I will put this on top of the unfinished project pile.

Back printing at the studio… ā€˜The Star’ three transparent colors at 16x20-inch poster, run of 35 — 30 of them at sell quality. You can see my process involves transparent ink to blend two additional colors in the artwork.

It was a good show. The best quality/framed print sold, as did several more bagged prints at a merch table.

…and just some in-progress printing photos.

From pose, to sketch, to inking, to digital vector stage. And! I had an old flame-woman illustration in storage I hadn’t used yet. Some dramatic lighting and design touches and it’ll be … probably only a sticker design. But maybe it’ll be a screen poster. We’ll see about that later.

Another screen print done. Three colors on pink paper. The blue should been brighter and soaked into the non-white areas more, but that purple brought up the contrast and saved it all.
Registering the layers went great … after I got angry at the vacuum table and drove several large screws to hold everything in place.
…it’s been a long day… and that print studio isn’t very well lit at night.

More sketching; more ideation. The last three reveal just how sad my little scribbles start out as. I must label these with words to even remember what the hell they are. I don’t do nothing without reference.

Recent piece for ā€œBrrrpleā€ art show, where the main focus is the color purple (banning Vikings football art). I’ve got three days to get films and print this. Typical of my time management.

Screen printing for Otherworldly Arts Collective annual sex-positive erotic art show: SafeWord.
So much to organize; so little time to get the art ready. ā€œWe’ll Talk About What Happened in the Morningā€ 4-colors, 16x20-inch — run of 25.

More screen printing; untitled for now, three colors at 16x20-inch. Still love my shared print studio.

Slow progress on artwork. But I’m working on a dozen projects at once, AND we got a show coming that earns the most money for our events group. Ticket sales will cover rent on the gallery for 2025, and everything else goes to a few charities that benefit sex workers and sex workers civil rights. If you are local, buy tickets early; we had to settle on a smaller venue this year. Less space = less tickers = sells out fast.

A new comic. A while back, @nepeteaa wondered what night-migrating songbirds thought of the recent aurora.

One of our most successful shows since opening ALTR Gallery: Living Wage, night of the living wage (hosted on a Friday 13th).
BASIC SETUP — the artist group, Rogue Citizen 6 artists), did one piece of art in an hour, for 40 hours. Each piece sold for a minimum of $23 or more if the buyer wished to pay more. Additional art was made, but sold as ā€œovertimeā€ at $32.50 (time-and-a-half). Proceeds go to help local unions for Natural Sciences Museum (MN), local Starbucks, and three more (sadly, local Comcast contractor union was only ready to represent for next year).
The gallery was instantly over-capacity crowded as sales started. Of the 255 pieces of art, we sold 150+, and brought in TWICE the amount requested on average. The outpouring of support was astounding. We will absolutely be partnering with Rogue Citizen again.
Punk isn’t dead; it’s gone pro.

New sketching energy. No, I have not finished the other stuff I started drawing. I fixed a ton of shit in my condo; but it’s not relevant to my art.

…and, I joined BlueSky. I want to add to the critical mass needed to kill (deadname)Twitter. But I have no illusions— the instant BlueSky becomes publicly traded company, gods only knows how quickly we might need to jump this ship, also. Let’s just say the blocklists, custom algorithms, and non-automated mods are working to keep the Nazi trolls away.
Tumblr media
And finally — the aging punk friends circle to my left will be borrowing our gallery to put on this awesome concept show: art made at a cost of $7.25 per the hours that were used to make it. Come for the affordable art, stay to reflect on what skilled labor is ACTUALLY worth, you cheap assholes.

There’s more of us if we look out for one another. Build your community and protect it from what is coming. The I gnorant, self-interested, and cruel people cannot do the same in any healthy / helpful way for very long.

It’s been an emotional week. I wanted to share this encounter I had with a very hateful man on the Pittsburgh bus because it reminds me that there are brave people in this world. Let’s all do everything we can to stand up for each other.
