On Chris's Disregard for Adrian
Like most of this fandom, I fell in love with Adrian/Vigilante from Peacemaker, and was disappointed by how little care Chris seems to show him during the series, despite Adrian's total loyalty and love for him. That's at least partially intentional on James Gunn's part, but I have another theory that it's more the result of late-stage rewrites that did a disservice to their arc, and we'll hopefully see better development in Season 2.
We know that Vigilante was recast after they had already shot 5 episodes, and had to go back and do reshoots. But the reason I think this impacted the plot more than just swapping actors is that the two actors cast are dramatically different.
Chris Conrad, the actor originally cast for Vigilante, is 51 years old (older than John Cena, who is 44), has a bulkier body type and seems to play more "tough guy" roles. By contrast, Freddie Stroma is 35, a bit thinner, and plays more comedic or romantic roles. All these factors would create a very different impression of the character.
My pet theory is that Vigilante was supposed to be more of an equal to Peacemaker (or at least see himself as such), maybe even a mentor. We'd probably feel less sympathy for this older, set-in-his ways Vigilante and he would serve as more of a true foil (or even eventual antagonist) to Peacemaker.
But Stroma's Vigilante is adorkable. He looks up to Peacemaker, and is enamored of him in a way that makes the audience sympathetic for him, which probably wouldn't have worked with Conrad in the role.
Gunn clearly did some rewriting to justify the new casting (Vigilante being Gut Chase's younger brother - maybe he would have otherwise been Gut himself?), but since it was later reshoots and on-the-fly, he probably couldn't change much about the overall arc and Peacemaker's perception of him.
The audience adoration of Vigilante is probably a happy accident—I doubt we were supposed to love him this much! In fact, Chris's disregard for him would have probably shown moral growth on his part, instead of coming across as mean. I'm hopeful that with Stroma locked into the role (and killing it), Gunn is able to approach season 2 with greater ability to plan for Chris and Adrian's relationship in a new light, and we get a Chris who is nicer to his BFF.

Now guys... it's possible that Peacemaker and Vigilante won't end up together at the end of Peacemaker. It will suck for the shippers, I'm sure, but we have to acknowledge that, if that's the case, it won't be queerbaiting.
We've seen them have a threesome together. We've seen Chris have sexual desire for other men. We've had his evil asshole of a father throwing the sex he's had with men on his face as one of the reasons why he was going to kill him.
Peacemaker is queer. That's confirmed, and that's fucking amazing. Queerbaiting in when queerness is implied and never confirmed to get on the good side of queer audiences whitout alienating the general audience and that's not what Peacemaker has done.
I'm jut saying, Chris' queerness isn't tied to his relationship with Adrian. I think they're gonna have a romantic moment, but even if they don't, we've still won today.
