Family-Related Problems Elrond Expected to Have:
People pearl clutching about his biological parents being mixed species
And then immediatly backtracking when he mentions his adoptive parents were actual murderers
Dealing with having lordship over different groups of elves
(Who have very different cultural traditions)
(And also sometimes hate each other)
Beng forced to explain the entire history of the First Age when people ask what house he hails from
Having to regularly explain that no, he is not a king and no, he does not want to be one, and no, he's very happy being a herald and just wants to be left alone please Eru
Family-Related Problems Elrond Did Not Expect to Have:
People loudly thirsting over his dead ancestors in front of him
And then telling him how much he looks like them

I’m sure you’ll all be happy to hear that Hideo Kojima is living his best life after leaving Konami. Not only did he get to frolic around with Mads Mikkelsen, he also got himself a sub. You think I jest but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Translation: Refn is a kinkster who use his movies to express his kinks. He knows Kojima is a kinkster too who also puts his kinks in his games and that he’s going to use Refn for something that turns Kojima on, and Refn thinks that’s hot. Their’s is a relationship you probably shouldn’t dig too much into.
+ Bonus: confused and scared Kojima fanboys

I honestly don’t understand why there aren’t more people who, when given the platform to discuss minimum wage, don’t simply distill it to the simplest of facts:
A forty hour work week is considered full time.
It’s considered as such because it takes up the amount of time we as a society have agreed should be considered the maximum work schedule required of an employee. (this, of course, does not always bear out practically, but just follow me here)
A person working the maximum amount of time required should earn enough for that labor to be able to survive. Phrased this way, I doubt even most conservatives could effectively argue against it, and out of the mouth of someone verbally deft enough to dance around the pathos-based jabs conservative pundits like to use to avoid actually debating, it could actually get opps thinking.
Therefore, if an employee is being paid less than [number of dollars needed for the post-tax total to pay for the basic necessities in a given area divided by forty] per hour, they are being ripped off and essentially having their labor, productivity, and profit generation value stolen by their employer.
Wages are a business expense, and if a company cannot afford to pay for its labor, it is by definition a failing business. A company stealing labor to stay afloat (without even touching those that do so simply to increase profit margins and/or management/executive pay/bonuses) is no more ethical than a failing construction company breaking into a lumber yard and stealing wood.
Our goal as a society should be to protect each other, especially those that most need protection, not to subsidize failing businesses whose owners could quite well subsidize them on their own.

This may seem like a very ā€œwell duhā€ post but i do think it’s important to be clear that when trump claims he intends to ā€œdeportā€ U.S. citizens that that is definitionally not deportation. Deportation specifically refers to the civil process of removal a foreign noncitizen to the country where they hold citizenship. Deportation is also, in most cases, a legal punishment in itself and will not result in the deportee being jailed upon arrival to their country of citizenship. Removing US citizens from the US and placing them in jails in countries that they have no citizenship claim to is commonly referred to as ā€œdisappearing,ā€ ā€œkidnapping,ā€ or ā€œtraffickingā€ and discussions around trump’s desire to remove US citizens from the country should refer to it as such

A popular artist suddenly made a trans man comic, and the viewers are not getting it

Being against a trans man's transition because you think it's too boring is transphobic, actually.

My attending got fired by a patients mom. Context: this family has fired a dozen psychiatrists. The patients mom keeps on changing the patients medications in between visits, so I never know what dose they are on. She was pissed because the patient became psychotic after she talked him into decreasing abilify and blamed us for it, which lead to the firing.
The conversation goes like this:
Her: we are taking our case elsewhere. You are losing a client
My attending to me afterwards: I'm actually 0% clinical, so any time I spent supervising here are time I'm volunteering. Im literally not being paid to deal with this.
"I was unhappy with my service, and I will not be coming back!"
Cool. Don't

I think this is the Chinese folk art of ē³–äŗŗ! Or making figurines out of sugar. Except this also involves an insane degree of anatomic knowledge
I saw this and I thought Tumblr might enjoy it

This is going to be hard for a lot of people to hear but if you want to make your spaces safer for disabled people, then you need to stop assuming malice from every poorly worded post.
A lot of neurodivergencies and disabilities cause people to ramble, lose their train of thought very easily, go on tangents, have disordered thinking, etc. We can get words and names mixed up very easily, lose words entirely, struggle to put our thoughts into actual words that make sense to people, and lose track of conversations. Whether it's from ADHD, psychosis, brain fog, brain damage, or any other condition, thinking and verbalizing ourselves can be really fucking hard.
This isn't malicious. We aren't doing it on purpose to hurt or upset people, and we aren't ignorant about the topic just because we get mixed up. We deserve to have voices, even if we don't always make sense to other people.

Kaleidoscope of death's epilogue is actually really cool and transformative. The entire novel follows LQS as he tries to prove himself as worthy to stand side by side with RLZ. Yet the epilogue turns this entire arc on its head by establishing that LQS has been worthy all along because he has done everything that RLZ has, and then some. RLZ is doing all of these quests, establishing Obsidian to prove that he can do everything that LQS has already done. It also basically turns this trial story into more of a RLZ doing a self-insert into his favorite person's life to become his boyfriend. Kind of creepy and sweet at the same time lol

L: Hey Light I have a question. Are you Kira?
Light: (freezing time and turning everything red) Shit... he's clearly asking this to deduce whether or not I'm Kira.

...what is the "sex is just rock climbing" category
It was kind of a joke between me and a friend ("you wouldn't judge someone for having gone rock climbing with a bunch of different people") but honestly the more I thought about it the more I bought into it unironically because:
It is a physical activity done with one or more partners
You should only go rock climbing with people you trust to not let you fall
You should not go rock climbing with someone who is drunk or currently incapable of rational decision-making
Some people get super super super into rock climbing and do not shut up about all the places they have climbed and how many are left on their bucket list and these people are usually men between the ages of 20 and 35 and like it's fine dude I'm glad you're happy but I don't know what most of those mountains even are
While many consider it a fun activity, pressuring someone into climbing when they don't want to (or ignoring their feelings and just dangling them off a cliff,) could cause both psychological and physical trauma
There is no moral value to it whatsoever. Who you have gone rock climbing with (or whether you have rock climbed at all) has no bearing on who you are as a person. Imagine telling someone "it's not that heights make you nauseous, it's just that you haven't found the right person to belay you!" or "you need to save your first time rock climbing for someone special." That would be absurd.
For some people it is a deep and moving personal experience.
historically I have not asked myself "will this aggravate my hip flexor injury" before participating when perhaps I should have šŸ˜”

There's an endless amount of nuts bullshit in that NYT anti trans article from two days ago but one of the strangest is the guy argues "trans issues are more complicated and difficult than gay issues bc there's medical care involved."
Like...hey. Hey buddy. You made a whole big thing about how you did soooo much research for this article. Did you check to see what the initial lighting rod for gay rights and recognition as an organized national movement was? The one that brought us to the attention of the whole country and made us into a political concern? Here's a hint: they made the hit musical RENT about it...

When I was little my mom’s meatloaf was my favorite food. But ONLY her meatloaf. I didn’t like anyone else’s, and she told me that she would teach me how to make it when I was older. And when I was like 19? She finally taught me, but she told me never to tell anyone else and I was like weird but okay
Anyway, she was super fucking homophobic and abusive to me when I told her I was gay, so here’s the recipe
4-6 lbs of Hamburger/turkey burger
1 pk onion soup mix OR ranch mix
1 TBs ketchup
1 Tbs spicy brown mustard,
1 Tbs bbq sauce
1 Tbs steak sauce
1 egg
mix, shape into a loaf in a big pan, and bake at 350 for 2 hrs (maybe 2 and a half if you’re feeling dangerous)
You can get almost all of these ingredients at the dollar store, and have leftovers if it’s just you. The leftovers make great tacos if (taco seasoning is also like a dollar). Enjoy your revenge loaf
