Trend Gawking for 2013. 3 PR tips
It is always exciting to see what consumers have been up to for a current year and what they may be pitted to do in a subsequent year. Trend Watching predicts some momentous trends fro 2013. Here are some 'spot-on' predictions that made it onto our list include:
1. The age of the proactive consumer
2. Go more mobile
That is also a new trend. "For those wondering where 'mobile' will head next, one behavioral insight should give you plenty to run with [...] consumers will look to their mobile devices to maximize absolutely every moment."--Trendwatching.com
Some astounding stats to back it up. 63% of females and 73% of male respondents in the U.S. don't go for an hour without checking their phone. (Harris Interactive.)
Cell phone users between 18 and 24 exchange more that 109 messages on an average day. The greatest PR machines will aim to deliver on-the-go engagements on mobile.
3. Are you environmentally friendly?
If the consumers care about it so should your PR. Major social PR capital can be had by creating campaigns using simple programs to conserve energy and water. Products will soon start competing for green capital and their little of no impact to the environment.
Be inspired here.

10 digital & media predictions you can use for PR in 2013
The digital and media world should tilt in your favor and serve your PR interest. Some of the predictions being put out are worth taking a note and beginning to prepare for.
1. Facebook
2. Brand measurement on social media data
Whether this prediction sees the light of day will remain to be seen, however, there is a strong impetus for social listening platforms to go a notch higher and provide you with brand measurement.
3. Emergence of the Remote control mobile device
We are not with them on this one, but Drew Myers reckons 2013 will see the metamorphosis of the Smartphone to a device that will use technology to simplify access and sharing of data between people and devices-almost driving laptops to redundancy. Without laughing it off as a prediction from a Janes bond movie, we looked at it with bated breath.
Dawn of Pay-per-view
The slow demise of freely viewed content in favor of pay-to-view content. If businesses had their way, that should have already happened in the last decade. However, disruptive PR and marketing will surely rescue the cheapskates-again. If it doesn't, marketers will have to split content between free and premium.
Omni-channel Marketing
This is already here-no doubt, but should be perfected in the year 2013. Content developed in any area of a business or its PR should be sharable and accessible on as many platforms as possible.
Social TV-'Goes to college?'
It is reported that the claims of the death of TV were all exaggerated. People are now watching TV more than ever. This prediction lays out some bold statements like the return to TV rather than shift to other screens (read computers) for rich viewing experiences. It could be spot on.
Mobile Advertising in Africa bridges the Smartphone divide
Africa already simplified the headache of virtual money by introducing mobile money. In some countries, mobile money transferred per year beats what western union transfers internationally, annually.
Collaborations on 'Must-have' data insights
Research and media may be required to collaborate to make sense of data insights.
Advertising formats change
2013 is the year for brands to make sense of how the format can affect conversion. Basically, brands should answer the question, 'should my ad be round or square?'
Mobile engagement
More time is spent on mobile apps that even browsing the internet. Rich mobile apps will be needed to create highly engaging experiences with clients.
