My absolute beloved new guy Solomon Reznikov, my soon-to-be PC for an upcoming Mage the Ascension game set in 1995 NYC. He's a physicist & quantum engineer Etherite with a bit of a hubris problem. Forces specialist with a magic wheelchair and a robot cat familiar. Infodump is under the cut because I love him so so much.
[ID: Art of a white man with pale skin, long wavy blonde hair that's windswept with ample flyaways, and amber eyes with blue sclerae and a drooped left eyelid / ptosis. He has freckles and acne scars, and a scar runs through his left eyebrow. He wears glasses with four additional small, round lenses attached. He has a bushy moustache and stubble. He wears a purple blazer with swirly gold patterns, a yellow t-shirt with blue stars, wrist and shoulder braces, and brass ring splints. He is in an electric wheelchair. He is surrounded by brass cables, and there is lightning behind him.]
A former child prodigy who graduated with his PhD in Experimental Particle Physics at 18, Solomon has simultaneously grown up without any friends his own age, minimal social skills, and constant reinforcement that he’s simply better than the rest of the world. A nervous breakdown during his thesis led to a violent and sudden Awakening fueled by an bad acid trip, and he was scooped up by the Society of Ether soon after, having independently developed a compatible paradigm. An encounter with a high-torment demon’s apocalyptic form during his postdoc caused him to form an unlikely friendship with a Nephilim Templar (the other PC lmao), with whom he traveled to NYC. He’s 25 now, and currently employed as a Professor at CUNY ingame.
He's a bisexual trans man, though he's stealth regarding his gender and closeted with his sexuality. His hobbies are largely geeky, but perhaps surprisingly, not sci-fi geeky. He loves Magic the Gathering and AD&D, and DMs an AD&D game where all players at the table are fellow Mages. He spends most of his time cooped up in his laboratory doing weird ass experiments and inventing shit, however. Solomon has Autism and NPD and is more than a bit awkward, blunt, and hubristic even by Mage standards, but he’s also a bright, creative man who hopes to advance the scientific field - ideally for humanity’s benefit. (I refuse to play a mad scientist who isn't autistic as hell. Projection <3)
He has Forces 3, Prime 2, and Entropy 1 to start. His glasses are an Instrument for his sensing abilities, with each additional round lens color-mapped to a sphere: Yellow for Forces, white for Prime, indigo for Entropy, and purple for Correspondence (not yet functional - he’s still learning it).
Solomon has what would likely now be diagnosed as hEDS with a marfanoid phenotype, but in-game in 1995 his dx is Marfanoid Hypermobility Syndrome. He almost always wears ring splints, and other joint braces are common. He uses a hypertech electric wheelchair that he designed alongside a fellow Etherite engineer, which in in-game terms is a 3-dot Wonder. It’s able to transform into a pair of forearm crutches when needed through a Matter effect, and it has a large side-bag with portals inside its pockets for summoning his Instruments as well as his medication and joint braces (Correspondence+Matter). The crutches have a side-bag with the same ability. I have one more effect to give it but I keep debating back-and-forth on that third thing LMAO. In terms of medical stuff he also has osteoarthritis, gastroparesis, dysautonomia, small fiber neuropathy, ectopia lentis, mild scoliosis and kyphosis, aortic root dilation, and mitral valve prolapse.
He moved from Moscow to London in 1973 when he was 3, and among the few objects he brought with him was a small tin can with a cat drawn on its exterior and a heart made from dingy red fabric stuffed inside - his imaginary friend as a toddler. Over the years, he’s added parts and technology, eventually replacing the tin can face. While the Familiar - eventually dubbed Meowdinger - is now a robotic cat created with hypertech and granted sentience through advanced AI, the dingy fabric heart remains in its chest. It likes boxes and consumes Tass in the form of quantum soup through a cat bowl, and it eases his chronic pain through healing nanotechnology injected by its affectionate licks.
Also, he's Jewish :D He's mostly secular, but he goes to a Reform synagogue on the holidays. He has a complicated relationship with religion.
Other fun facts (if you read this far):
In MtG he plays a blue-red control deck and in AD&D 2e (the edition he'd be playing in '95) he plays an Artificer Specialist Wizard when he's not DMing.
His merits/flaws on his sheet are Hyperflexible, Lightning Calculator, Mechanical Aptitude, Hands of Daedalus, Eidetic Memory, Research Grant, Impediment (4 pt), Echoes (1 pt), Inappropriate (1 pt), Mental Lock, Obsession, and Overconfident. If that sounds like a lot it's because my ST ups the cap to 10 points LMAo. In terms of his merits, basically he's just an Int 5 super genius cunt. Obsession represents his special interest in physics, Mental Lock represents stimming / perseveration, Impediment is for all his disabilities, and he has Inappropriate for his tendency to drop absolutely out of pocket reads, which is going to be extremely fun to play. Re: Echoes, gravity is funky around him, so his hair is always sticking up and he has to keep his papers down with rocks so they don't blow away.
His favorite Jewish holiday is Purim, because he has a friend (another Etherite) who makes them ridiculous matching costumes every year. Usually with sci-fi bits that actually work.

my vtm toxic trait is i haaate the concept of "pretty" nosferatu. the second their hideousness is downgraded to "they smell a little bad and take a social penalty for it", "so beautiful it's uncanny", "their face looks normal but it's completely still, so it's toootally unnerving".... i know requiem and V5 lean into this concept but what can i say? i'm a child of revised. why play a monstrous masquerade-breaking sewer gremlin who has to hide if you don't want to play a monstrous masquerade-breaking sewer gremlin who has to hide. 😐
someone on the subreddit said bertram tung from vtmb was TOO MUCH aksfhsjshshs. some of you are weak and will not survive the winter nictuku.

"Well, then, in the Savage Garden," said Armand, "you shine beautifully, my friend. You walk as if it is your garden to do with as you please. And in my wanderings, I always return to you. I always return to see the colors of the garden in your shadow, or reflected in your eyes, perhaps, or to hear of your latest follies and mad obsessions. Besides, we are brothers, are we not?"

Playin around with textures drawin my darling Larva <33
[ID: A digital portrait of a pallid nonbinary vampire with short, choppy, side-shaved platinum blonde hair and several piercings. It has wide-open white eyes with red sclerae and heavy black eye shadow. Its ear has two points and a black behind-the-ear hearing aid with charms and chains attached. It has black lipstick and bloodstained mouth. Its throat shows signs of decay beneath stringy skin, and beneath its tattered shirt is a hint of blood. It wears a fur coat on top. The background is dark and splattered with blood, with a textured bright green halo behind its face.]

Stealing Astarion's camp clothes and giving them to Wyll was the best decision I ever made, I can't believe I didn't think of it sooner.
Anyway, actual Disney prince Wyll Ravengard. ✨

New PC... pack priest for my 1999 NYC game :3 They were a computer obsessed occultist NEET failgirl (gender neutral) who got embraced after tracking down a snuff film creator and realizing far too late that they'd walked into a serial killer's den. Curiosity killed the cat :( They've got just a teeensy little issue with their flesh corroding and devouring itself in their sleep, only able to replenish the depleted mass by consuming human flesh, and the rotting meat of their limbs attracts a perpetual swarm of carrion flies. But hey, unlife has its perks! Plenty of them, in fact. And while Larva seeks answers for its condition, it also runs far away from its mortal past and the fucked up family it was (perhaps thankfully) torn from.

WHAT is even the point of mind controlling a hero if it doesn't feel good. if you can't make them like it. if they don't learn to want it.
