The thing with this whole Wolot nonsense is that it's not even about whether or not Wolot is attractive, but about how RC decided to appease racists instead of standing their ground. Now, they gave themselves twice the work for one character which potentially gives them more of an excuse to use AI in their CGs. If you find Wolot hot that's whatever, but don't try to twist peoples' words in an attempt to ignorant to the bigger picture.

This is a good time to ask why the portrayal of POC in a Slavic village is more offensive than characters of colors with primarily eurocentric features in historical books centered on cultures of color? Do you only care about historical accuracy when it comes to your culture? Are you picking and choosing when historical accuracy is crucial to your enjoyment of a book?

1) "The thing about the difference in writing between VfV and 7B is also that Langley is a first person writer with complex MCs who make constant references to what they KNOW. Renée's mythological & literary references are there because that is what she KNOWS. It's related to the culture of the era, her status as a noblewoman & her rich upbringing.

Jaynie, on the other hand, is much more down to earth in a way, as her main point of reference is her experiences, or stuff she's seen online. It does sound cringy, yes, but that's because these characters are not very old. And yes, young adults and teenagers do sound cringy, especially the chronically online ones who pick up various words that they barely know the meaning of from Tiktok.

I just wish people would understand that, sure, yes, you can enjoy mythology & classic literature in this day and age, I am a huge fan of both, but Jaynie making those references wouldn't really align with her character. I don't know if this makes sense, I'm tired.

I just wish people would give as much grace to 7 Brothers as they do to other books that might not be as well written instead of nitpicking every aspect of the book until there's nothing left."

2) "I think 7 Brothers gets too much hate. Yes, it's not the same level of Vying For Versailles, but it's still a fun story. It's a nice break from all the high fantasy/magic stories RC has been putting out lately."
