On November 14th, artist Pia Johnson joined Jude Anderson to walk the Golden Mountain section of the Great Dividing Trail. Pia joins A Big Walk to Golden Mountain which began in 2015 when four Punctum associated artists, Jude Anderson, Jacques Soddell, Tara Gilbee and Tanja Beer walked sections of the Golden Mountain Walk for its precursory investigation Robe/S. Over the coming months all five artists will walk their section of the trail, following in the footsteps of thousands of Guangdong, who in the 1850’s travelled via Hong Kong to South Australia, then from the coastal town of Robe to the Central Victorian Goldfields, a trek of over 500kms.

Spanning the month of March 2017, Big Walk to Golden Mountain will be a program of events which represents the regional contribution to the Art Centre’s massive Asia TOPA program and connects it to the goldfields of Central Victoria. Punctum artists will follow in the footsteps of thousands of Cantonese, who in the 1850’s travelled via Hong Kong to South Australia, then from the coastal town of Robe to the Central Victorian Goldfields, a trek of over 500kms. The work created will inform an exhibition in Ballarat; a public gathering in Vaughan Springs; and a Zen inspired garden and installation in a courtyard hidden in historic Castlemaine. Each place will tell a story of how we shape the landscape, and how the landscape shapes us. We are inviting people to join in a rare opportunity to experience the landscape by walking through Golden Mountain country with us. www.punctum.com.au

Punctum is excited to be inviting applications for our acclaimed 2017 Seedpod Live Art residency program. Proposals are welcome from artists at all stages of their career working in any area of Live Art. Seedpod residencies provide $1000 to artists plus $1000 of in-kind technical, professional and management support and up to one month’s free use of a space. For 2017, one of the Seedpod residencies will be dedicated to a Live Art proposition developed and showcased as a ‘performance disruptor’ at the Phee Broadway Theatre in Castlemaine and the Engine Room in Bendigo. http://ow.ly/uMDl306aH0R
