honestly i think #YesAllMen was a massive mistake and part of the death rattle of third wave feminism in its subsumption by capitalist class interests, because now you have cis women arguing with their whole chest that a no-op no-hormone they/she/he trans guy is ontologically a participant in Male Violence because Yes All Men, and no matter how hard you point out that this doesn't make sense the best you're going to get in response is "oh, so you're saying we should just misgender trans guys?"

every time I remember about gender I want to scream. I grew up as a 'tomboy' in a relatively progressive area and the kind of shit I was put through is insane. I remember distinctly this one birthday party when I was six or seven when my parents specifically told the other parents that I hated dolls and would have a meltdown if any of them gave me dolls for my birthday. I received not one. not two. but three dolls. and it's like. this stuff is so minor when you look at it as a one-off incident. but also what the fuck is wrong with people that they would think cisgendering is more important than being responsive to an individual child

anyway I brought this story up several years back, when we were discussing gender in my year 11 sociology class. and my teacher shrugged and said "you can't blame any of the parents for that though". well why not. literally that post about how the average cis person will reinforce gender more violently every single day than a trans person who makes nonstop egg jokes. down with cis etc

drop the stigma around unemployment by not using it as an insult! not everyone is employable! I'm unemployed bc I'm a disabled stay at home stepdad. doesn't mean I am socially inept enough to send someone anon hate.

instead let's change the phrase to "hobbyless behavior"

1. doesn't hinge someone's worth on their employment or ability to make money, why drag capitalism into this when it sucks anyway

2. still implies a lack of anything better to do with their time without the ability to talk out of it bc hobbies are so diverse that there's really no excuse not to have at least one

3. goes to show how miserable and spiteful someone becomes when they never have any kind of fun

4. how pathetic is it to have the kind of time on your hands to be hateful towards others and yet not have time to develop a personality or interests?

anyway stop using "unemployed" as an insult and instead roast them for not having a hobby

a talking point i often see when defending the consumption of dark content is that it’s a coping mechanism for those with trauma which is very valid and true but i also want to make this abundantly clear: you can like dark content for no reason. you can enjoy fucked up shit in fiction because it’s enjoyable and entertaining. trauma is not required as a ticket for entry. enjoy your dark content bc it’s fun and sexy and don’t let anyone take that away from you

There are two things that I think are really important for us in the U.S. to remember right now, that aren't being loudly pointed out:

When ordinary people start really feeling the effects of what the NeoFascists are doing (economically, health wise, etc), the messaging they have and are and will receive is not that this is the NeoFascists' fault. It will be, and is, the same as it has already been - that it is the fault of other countries, and of internal enemies - queer people, women, black and brown people, non-christians*. And people will believe it. They won't suddenly realize that it wasn't DEI or the single trans athlete in the state that was making it so they couldn't afford groceries. The rhetoric will only continue to escalate - and people will believe it.

*And of course always, especially, jewish people. But all non-christians - and even the "wrong" kind of christians - have been and will be and are targeted.

2. The administration is already openly expressing eugenicist and genocidal beliefs. This is particularly true when you look at the messaging against people with disabilities and RFK Jr.'s "Make America Healthy Again" campaign, which is targeting, in all but explicit words, "useless eaters." I see very few people (outside of disability circles) being willing to explicitly point this out. I've even seen people using the words "soft eugenics," because these aren't actively expressing rounding up disabled and fat and queer and brown and muslim and jewish people and gassing us (yet)*. But this is a fundamental misunderstanding of what eugenics actually is (or for that matter, the U.S.'s long historic embrace). The gas chambers were the end of the OGNazis's eugenics program. The part that came before was no less a part of it - and it all leads to the same inevitable end. And it is an end that we are hurtling toward at an accelerated schedule.

*Now, rounding them up and sending them to an foreign torture camp? They are literally already doing that. They are grabbing the mildest political dissidents and random latino teenagers off the street. We are less than three months in already. What are we doing here with "soft eugenics"?????
