Just checking in to say how have you been doing and I hope the asks you’ve been receiving haven't been too overwhelming.
Drinks lots of water and take breaks if you have to, Mate.
Hi! Thank you so much for being so sweet :3 I’m alright, I’ve just been busy on my end. I feel so bad for not keeping up with everyone’s confessions 😓 but I should be able to keep up again now that I’ve caught up.
I thank everyone for their kindness and patience 💕

I've been tearing my hair out since the creator of WH!Mob AU came back, dropped an updated roles post about the characters and never elaborated on the missing persons from the list.
I get that only the major characters get on the list, but AAA WHERE'S EDDIE? HE'S A MAJOR CHARACTER!
I have this fear that his absence from the list means that he's not in the mob anymore, which puts a wrench in the works for me. Cause then, where is he??
I have half a mind to send an ask their way, but I already sent two, and I don't want to clog them up. Especially since it looks like they're trying to move on from whatever life threw at them.
Maybe they’re saving him for something??

something that nagged my mind since I saw goth frank. he would totally listen to Ghost if he could. I think he would specifically listen to Mary on a Cross allot because it reminds him of eddie.
That could work for a goth Frank edit :3
Tbh I always head cannoned goth Frank listening to specifically darkwave (kind of biased as a goth particularly into Darkwave lol), so like Maruex, Twin Tribes, Lebanon Hanover, etc.

I confess that, in the early days of Welcome Home, I thought Eddie was going to be my least favorite and same with Sally.
After the Halloween update, that changed dramatically. The fact that Eddie's main humor is things like, "NO! Not impractical use of shelf space!!" Made me fall in love with him. Sally also made me like her, because even though she has the most well built facade, she is so hard working in the background it's ridiculous and makes me respect her so much.
Sometimes the characters that we end up most attached to are the least we expect. Happens to me all the time XD

Going to be very honest here by saying the plot of DAWM doesn’t really spark much interest for me.
Puppets living in a dream world but are being hunted by demons of their past just doesn’t sound all that appealing story wise.
I adore the designs and the dreamy look it has, but other than that? Eh. But hey! It might be a fun show to watch from time to time so I’ll wait for the pilot to drop next year before making a complete statement on it.

Mage really needs to start promoting their project and being more active on other platforms instead of just Instagram.
if you’re not following them on there, then you’re going to have surface level knowledge about the project. I know Mage says they want people to know about their creations, but they really need to branch out beyond the one platform.

Do you think fandoms should start gatekeeping again? especially due to newer fans either refusing to follow or ignore fandom rules?
By gatekeeping, I mean only allowing people who have genuine interest or follows/understand fandom etiquette.
While keeping and running out the bad apples who cause lots of drama, disrespect boundaries + think they’re entitled, toxic and overall awful behavior
Honestly I’ve always believed gatekeeping isn’t always a bad things. Sometimes it’s the only option left when trying to stop toxicity from spreading. Fandom rules matter for a reason, no matter how you might feel about a piece of fiction or fictional fan content. Fandom rules are there to keep you safe as well as practice etiquette and respect, and make everyone’s fandom experiences a pleasant one.
There’s way too many toxic behaviors being normalized over fiction, harming real human beings over fictional content. It’s just not healthy.
If you feel it is ever justified for any reason to harass, harm, or threaten another person over any piece of fiction (be it a ship, fan art, fan content, darker topics, nsfw, etc.), you do not have a healthy relationship with fiction, you need to go to therapy as well as learn fandom etiquette, and if you cannot do either of those things, fandoms may simply not be for you.

Nuh don't feel bad about it anon I had major gripes with DAWM but was scared discussing them in fear of retaliation by fans. I’m not a fan of how on too the nosethe mysterious are how they confirm major plot points that’s supposed to be revealed in the show. I don’t like how easily upset they get when others criticize/nitpick their project and the community they’re cultivating is fulled with toxic positivity and puritan.
I do like Mage’s project yet the way they handle criticism, not wanting NSFW involving their IP, (despite DAWM’s targeted audience supposedly being for adults) just rubs me wrong and if DAWM blows up in popularity? Mage needs to understand online etiquette and how it works or else things will get much worse.

The reason why not a lot of people talk about let alone know about Hello Puppets it’s because the game was made only for the VR headset and not other consoles and considering how expensive headsets are ($500 or more iirc) drastically limited the amount of people’s access . There’s only a few let’s plays of the game, on top of the game being only 1 hour long doesn’t help either.
As for My Friendly Neighborhood? It was a complete game and didn’t really have heavy, deep lore to draw in theorists and big YouTubers like Poppy playtime, FNAF did so thses games went completely under the radar.

I like to imagine Wally as a variety show TV host, Barnaby as his 'zinger' co-host, Howdy as the "now a word from our sponsor" guy, Julie as a the fabulous musical number star, Sally and Frank as the comedy sketch duo, Poppy as the "lovely assistant", Eddie as the "unwilling assistant" (for comedic effect), and Home as the over narrator who introduces the show and reads the end major credits.

Oh god! I already know once DAWM drops and Oddery makes her debut appearance in the show.
She’s going to be demonized, hated and called abusive by obsessed Teddy fangirls for being “mean” to him (despite having VERY good reasons to hate him mind you!)
She's going to be portrayed as evil and abusive by the fandom for it.
(there’s already some fans claiming she’s in the wrong for hating Teddy! I kid you not 😭)

Yknow I feel bad for starting a whole thing with DAWM but at the same time if Mage had just kept their mouth shut and hadn’t acted like a whiny little brat that got one piece of criticism that wasn’t even making fun of their work, I feel as though no one would have started saying anything. it’s just funny because all I said was that the story/characters were similar to welcome home and that they kind of have a superiority complex. Anyway sorry all your inbox is DAWM now :(
-👾
Tbh it’s not really your fault. You were the only one that said anything critical about DAWN for a while. I hadn’t gotten anyone else saying anything about it until after Mage decided it was a good idea to bring attention to it (the ONE person critiquing/sharing an opinion and making it seem like it’s a bunch of haters). Either way, them address it the poor way that they did only brought attention to it and helped people find that this was a safe space to share their thoughts as long as it’s done respectfully. That is what made there be an influx of people sending in more critical DAWM confessions 🤷🏻
Of course I don’t mind because so far everyone has been following the rules and stating their thoughts and opinions rather respectfully. No one has been rude or hateful about mage and DAWM a single time(despite how certain people want to vaguely portray it). Critique and an opinion that’s not overwhelming praise is not hate. The point of this blog is to provide a safe space where people can share how they feel or think about something and to normalize agreeing to disagree/not harassing or berating someone who has a different opinion. In the end, I’m glad that the people that have more critical views on them and the project found this blog, because given the way things are handled over there, there’s a lot of policing and silencing. And people should be allowed to speak their thoughts.

Idk if it's just me. But have you noticed that Mascot Horror is slowly starting to die off? Not necessarily “dying” but more so learning more towards philosophical horror and dealing with darker topics such as SA, substance abuse, trauma etc.
And away from the typical format of Mascot Horror.
I think that these dark topics have always been present in some mascot horrors, people just never noticed it. I think mascot horrors is just taking itself more seriously and putting more effort so as not to become another -game that shall not be named- cash grab. Also there are so many creatives that are into this genre so that helps too. Mascot horror has always dealt with very dark topics, and I think it’s the perfect medium to explore any dark topic. The darker the better to me lol.

Tbh? I’m really surprised that there’s rarely any misogyny in the Welcome Home fandom.
(or I’m probably just on the good side of the community so I don't see it)
90% of fanbases tend to be very misogynistic towards female characters yet I don't see much here. It makes me so happy seeing fans not demonize Juile, Sally and Poppy.
I haven’t seen much misogyny either. Of course bad things like that and people like that exist in every fandom somewhere but it’s a good thing that even I haven’t run into anything like that.
Low key I think it could also be because none of the female characters are treated or given the role of ‘Main character’s (Wally’s) love interest and/or very very implicatively close friend’, so a lot of that immature hostility fandom tends to have towards the female character doesn’t come up because they don’t see her as ‘getting between them and the character they simp’. A lot of misogynistic treatment towards female characters is often a product of a very young and very immature fan who’s jealous of any potential romantic relationship between their fave and anyone else (and let’s face it, typically the relationships depicted in most media is heteronormative so).
But that’s just my thoughts in it.

Or a furry
It is a building kind of…
Technically I’d say home qualifies as a valid ‘hear me out’ XD
