hi everyone ! i’m kelly ( eighteen, mst, she/her, and very late to the party ) here to bring you guys charlie !! you can find my application for him here which includes some bits about his personality and background, but i’ll give a more run-down version under the cut :~))

tw for miscarriage, death

born and raised in wheeler, indiana ! he moved out to the city to go to school and get his ministry degree, and even got another degree in theology and a masters in religious studies. can someone say .. nerd :/ during this time he met his future wife, abby and they fell in love immediately. it was kind of like one of those whirlwind type of romances, y’know ? 

abby was pregnant roughly a year after they got married but it resulted in a miscarriage. and that’s when they decided that maybe adopting was a better option.

they moved back to wheeler to raise their child, thinking it a better environment to have a family. ( this probably would’ve been around the time charlie was 30, so like ? 21 years ago ) and when he was 39 he lost abby to a drunk driver, which was what really shook his faith.

since then, charlie’s been kind of just chugging along, finding himself conflicted but putting on a brave face for the town. 

personality

very private and introverted, but like simultaneously amiable and friendly ?? charlie’s very good at compartmentalizing, doesn’t really let people in. especially when its to like, share his inner turmoil and whatnot, not wanting to “burden” others with that.

but !!!!! sigh.... he cares so much, for everyone. it’s redonkulous. he has a tendency of spreading himself out too thin and shouldering everyone’s problems — helping others at his own expense which is .. v ironic.

idk this dude has some deep-seated issues from his childhood that he never rlly .. dealt with lmfao he just kinda goes “.. i do not See” has a very twisted view of love bc of his parents and like i think abby was really able to help him clarify things on that but .. w out her he feels kinda lost, and with his faith in question he feels eve more so. so its just .. essentially a religious mid-life crisis

wanted connections

honestly .. i’m not sure .. i’ve never played a pastor before so i’m very excited to explore that but also ?????? i have no clue bro ... i’d love for charlie to have some like, sincere friendships ! and also i love playing the pseudo-dad-figure to all the lost youngins .. pls .. but if you had any plots / ideas you wanted specifically, just let me know !! i’m honestly open to anything !!

Blood on the doors of the church. Blood on the hands of its leader.

Faithfully donning the white collar; a beacon of false hope through the heavy fog of fear, suspicion, and anger that plagues the congregation.

Wanders the pews during the night hours straining to hear even the faintest whisper of divine guidance. 

To this day has only heard the crickets and on especially quiet nights the distant rush of the river. Tries to shake the sinful thought of those steady rapids swallowing the body of a little girl whole.
