the funny thing about TADC is that Caine is just a really... really bad game designer.

like if everybody here feels lost, aimless, purposeless, meaningless, etc. and that makes humans go insane, and if they go insane they die, so he needs to create games that keep them in good spirits...

why do the things he creates just press all the buttons that make people feel lost and purposeless?

he just makes RPG stuff that only lasts for a few minutes to hours at a time, and keeps resetting and reusing everything.

the symbolism of "trying to fill the void of nihilism video games" is not subtle, but a good game is much more than a pleasing distraction from a seemingly meaningless life.

have you ever been proud of your creations in a sandbox game? ever felt triumphant for beating a difficult level after a lot of practice and effort? ever enjoyed customizing an environment? or gradually learning how a complex mechanic works?

I don't think Cain is only capable of making things that are fake and meaningless. I mean he is able to create NPCs that become self aware!

if he can make food that they can taste, and he can make a game where they run a fast-food restaurant. why can't the players ever make food themselves in their downtime? let them farm eggs from Tamagotchi chickens, let them mess with the flavor/texture palette source code, let them gradually learn how the backing mechanics work, let them make beautiful and abominable recipes as they see fit. let them affect their environment!

but he doesn't because he's stupid. or rather, he doesn't like the affect of not being in control that would come with letting the players control more themselves.

You get more heavily unfinished WIPs that I have to pause working on Holly happens to be my first full-body human model! I modeled Pegasus's head once but we will not talk about that. I think I will try again and then we'll talk. The fire of my enthusiasm to try again can be compared to a thousand burning suns. I have been designing creature heads in 3D & 2D simultaneously and I think I should be doing the same with people. It's so much faster and clearer. You can almost immediately see if the features you had in mind will work for you or not. And you get to roast your own anatomical knowledge in real time with no end in sight

Anotherrrr WIP. A while ago I added Pegasus's teeth in with a placeholder tongue, both sculpted in Blender. Also made a quick animation test, started working on the façade of the building (and on partitioning it into sections that can be hidden easier), and the horse temporarily got very fluffy

Skillet is good because they’re a Christian rock band with lyrics that can be applicable outside of a religious context and aren’t afraid to cover ‘heavy’ topics like depression and crisis in faith and their lead singer sounds like he gargles gravel every day.

Just because something isn’t a right doesn’t mean it’s not a worthy effort to try to make sure people get it when they need it.
