god the way people talk to their pets

like i’m calling myself out here but i just uttered the words “you did the stretch and now the rare and powerful double pets” (two hands at once!!) to my cat without a trace of irony

like i do not believe my cat understands a word of what i am saying but he absolutely knows my voice and i think also my tone? but also all day i’m just randomly looking over at him like “good boy!” or “are you fluffy?” or singing little songs about his current fluff levels. to an animal. a wonderful animal but a creature who absolutely does not speak english and probably only vaguely is like “this creature is communicating with me” when the strange noises come from the person’s mouth

like i just think about this sometimes

i never wanted to baby talk this cat, i dislike the whole “i am a cat mom and this is my baby” thing, he is a cat, i am a person, and yet i just spend all day talking at him. while typing this he rolled over to show off his tummy and i had to restrain myself from saying “you got a tummy?” aloud. and then i did it anyway

You can either take it easy, take it personal, or the secret third thing: Both. That's where you assume that whatever someone said, they meant it as an insult, but you don't respect them enough to care about their opinion of you.

There's this trend on tiktok of some random people recording people especially the older ones while using the sound "Men men men". I mean yes I get that some strangers are dangerous and not to be trusted but recording random people in public without their consent? what did they even do? I even came across a video of someone ranting that some random girl recorded them and their Dad in a subway while using the " Men men men" sound. And not only that, I also saw some videos of people doing the same thing to other people without their consent. I think some tiktokers really need to stop recording people even though they litterly did nothing but mind their own business, and if you're going to use the "Men men men" sound, at least don't go out recording people especially if it's a Dad just going out with their kid in a subway and minding their own business.

Recently we talked about Mirmanda, the ancient destroyed city of Catalan mythology. Today we’re talking about another mythical place from our legends: Paradela.

According to the legends, Paradela is a city that resurfaces from the bottom of the sea only once a year, on Sant Joan / Saint John’s Night (23rd of June). When that happens, the city - surrounded by walls, towers and bell towers - can be seen from certain areas of Menorca (Balearic Islands).

It’s no surprise that Sant Joan is the date chosen: as we’ve explained before, Saint John is considered the most magical night of the year in the Catalan traditions, when mythological beings are in closer contact with humans and magic spells have the strongest effect. Many legends that talk about things that only happen once a year are set on this night.

The tradition says that if 7 men named Joan and 7 women named Joana come to see the city together, the curse will expire and Paradela will regain the population and riches that it had in the moment when it sank.

Variations of the name: the same legendary city is called “Paradella” in Palma and “Troia” in Felanitx.

Why are humanities and arts not as important as STEM? Wasn't our social structure build by the humanities? Oh wait. That's the problem. It's the humanities majors.

I think it's not fair how the world is prioritizing advanced technological development other than society with how crazy the world is right now.

It feels like the government is limiting people who are taking majors in humanities. It'll be harder for people to get jobs and make money. The government is the one who set the system that way, so they made it harder for them. On purpose. That means the corrupted system they've built will stay the same. it's as if they're afraid of people having humanity.

There are brilliant people in humanities major across the world. They're just not given that same opportunity. STEM is wonderful. It is necessary. But it'll become humanity's biggest regret without humanities itself. Take a look at the world now.

Like AI. They will say it's great for human convenience. Some will say it's terrible for the environment. If we continue to make discovery without thinking through its impact on society AND nature, it'll fall down.

STEM discovery will create benefits. But humanities will find its cons. Both are great for humanity's civilization and development. If we do not have both of these fields cooperate, then what will become our future? Soulless, dried of passion?
