Friendships as a teenager: we used to talk 5 hours every night now it’s down to 3… are we still friends 🤔? I wonder if they don’t like me anymore
Friendships as an adult: omg I’ve finally cleared up 20 minutes of my schedule to talk to my friend I haven’t spoken to in 4 months #bffs #we will find eachother in every life
#Oh my god someone put it into words#I can go over a YEAR without seeing someone or MONTHS without speaking to someone and we are friends and I LOVE THEM#Adult life - especially when you are poor and have to work crazy hours - takes SO MUCH effort to maintain regular social interactions#Talk every day? About what? The shows I want to watch but don’t have time for? The games I don’t have time for/can’t afford?#Talk about work? And be a negative Nancy about it? That’d just make conversation so damn depressing#Like the occasional vent is healthy and normal but it’s not good for EVERY conversation#Whenever my friends have time to send me a message to share something or talk about something I am ALL FOR IT!#Yes! Tell me about the fun you are having! Tell me about your art craft! Tell me about your that vacation you had!#I don’t hardly ever have anything going worth talking about - and my friends rarely do either - so any time something is shared we all talk#It’s sporadic & isolating for all of us so we try to support each other by sharing everything from minor happiness; new memes; life changes#Despite the odds against us busy and poor young adults; we try our best to make sure our friends know they are loved#Despite not speaking for months at a time sometimes; we just start right back where we left off when we have a moment!#We savor the rare moments we have with each other. Every visit is a wonderful memory. It’s how we remind friends that we love each other
