her patience had long-since begun to wear thin. the first sign of trouble was when she’d been unceremoniously informed that her dig -- the one she had been researching for months -- was now to be led by dr. jones. under different circumstances, she would have been thrilled to work with him -- but the wounded professional pride had rather soured any excitement his reputation might otherwise have inspired. and now, to make matters worse, there was little doubt they were completely and utterly lost.

she stopped, taking a moment to wipe the beads of sweat from her brow and take quick stock of their surroundings. it had to be this way -- that was what their translations had indicated...

evy let out a short, frustrated breath.    “  we ought to have found something by now!  ”    she called, raising her voice so that he could here her from further up the path.    “  there must have been an error in our translations...  ”    her tone, however, suggested that the error was most decidedly not hers.   //   @andglory​ liked for a starter!

evelyn’s fingers drummed nervously on the table, the cup of tea an assistant had offered her growing cold beside her. this was new -- very, very new. to be sure, her escapades in hamunaptra had not gone unnoticed and she’d received her share of intimidating debriefs from various agencies of various governments on the matter. but never before had she been called in -- by the cia, no less -- on some unrelated business. perhaps some mission in egypt required scholarly expertise? as long as it had nothing to do with mummies...
