went to see noroi: the curse in theaters tonight. minutes before the film i received word from my mother back in my hometown that my beloved dog, melody, was being put down. we just saw sinners, and while it wasn't really any scarier than an episode of like "buffy the vampire slayer" or something, it was hugely fun in the same way a john carpenter movie is fun. recommended

rolled credits on blue prince. i think it's genuinely very funny to make a myst-style adventure game where you have to wait for RNG to line up so that you can even solve puzzles. i could have wrapped the game during the run with my first visit to the antechamber if i had access to a specific room that i had needed lol. cultivating that frustration with your own luck feels like the closest thing to being in a gambling story a la kaiji without actually gambling

i really liked the structure where toshiro mifune's staged melodrama storyline comes to a climax and then for the rest of the runtime it's a murky police procedural
