Strategist, Rogue Subclass
Tumblr media
You are a willful tactician, dedicating yourself to studying the weaknesses of your enemies, and using them to you and your allies advantage.  Your allies know they can rely on you and your clever mind to spot openings in your opponents defense. You plan out every step you take long before you take it, and can recalculate a situation at a moment’s notice. You are always prepared for anything, and a survivalist at heart. Your enemies are hard pressed to get the upper hand on you. Just when they think they have you, you’re already behind them, ready to strike them down.
Creature Codex
When you take this archetype at 3rd level, you dedicate yourself to knowing your enemies weaknesses. Choose one type of creature you memorize the weaknesses of: aberrations, beasts, celestials, constructs, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, giants, monstrosities, oozes, plants, or undead. Alternatively, you can select two races of humanoid (such as gnolls and orcs) to place in your codex. For this creature, you always have Sneak Attack on them, unless you have disadvantage on them.
At 6th, 11th, and 16th level, you can choose one other type of creature.
Quick Lesson
At 3rd level, you learn to communicate an enemies weakness to your allies. If there is an enemy that you would benefit from Sneak Attack on, you can call out this weakness to your allies that can hear you. This enemy is then marked, and the next damage they take from an attack of an ally that heard you adds your Sneak Attack damage to it. You can no longer use Sneak Attack on your turn, and normal restrictions on the type of attack are lifted, as long as the attack is rolled.
Planner
At 9th level, you think ahead and plan out your actions far ahead of time. When you use your action to Dodge, you add +2 to your AC, and when you use your Cunning Action to Disengage, you receive 10 feet of movement.
When you use your Cunning Action to Hide, you gain advantage on the ability check. This ability can only be used once between short rests.
Further Study
At 13th level, your studies inform you of a creature’s abilities. If a creature is in your Creature Codex, you can target a creature of that type as a bonus action and learn certain traits of it. Your DM tells you if the creature is equal, superior, or inferior in two of the following characteristics of your choice.
It’s maximum Hitpoints.
Strength score.
Dexterity score.
You may, instead, choose one of the options below for the DM to tell you.
A single resistance.
A single immunity.
A single sense.
Achilles Heel
At 17th level, you become a master of targeting weaknesses. When you are benefiting from your Sneak Attack, you ignore all damage resistances for Sneak Attack damage, and treat damage immunities as resistances. This effect transfers to allies benefiting from your Sneak Attack, but still only for the Sneak Attack damage.
