Giggling, Pyro ignited the pilot light on the backburner. Scout sure was eager to play, even though this was shaping up to be a one-versus-one capture the flag featuring a small medicine kit. Still, Scout seemed eager, and so too was Pyro. 

Their finger grazed the trigger on the backburner, and a small flame burst towards the Scout. they were almost mesmerised for a moment, standing stock still watching the small flame as it sprung and died within a few seconds. They giggled again, eager to show their new friend how pretty the fire was. They squeezed the trigger harder this time, a jet of flame leaping towards the Scout in a gorgeous array of reds, yellows and oranges; a stark contrast to the blue pilot light. Again they were mesmerised, staring wordlessly at the flame.

The scout froze upon seeing, from his point of view at least, the monster known as the RED Pyro, he stood inches away from the nearby small health pack. "Awlrite freak, heres whats we are gonna do, im gonna take dat healthpack right dere n neither of us are gonna get hurt, capiche?"

Waving jovially, Pyro pointed towards the health pack, inclining their head as though asking: what, this?

They chuckled, a deep and muffled sound that resonated from their respirator ominously. Boy, that Scout sure did look cold. With that, the Backburner was swung into place in front of the merc, and they squared their shoulders. 

Pyro sure loved a good game of tag.

“Hudduhah huh! Hudduh hah huddahuh.” Plastic flowers are thrust enthusiastically towards Dell.

"Huddah huh huddahudda hrrg!" Pyro mimes making a flowerpot of Soldier's helmet, using some rather tacky plastic flowers.

FLAME MAGGOT, YOU ARE NOW THE SMARTEST PERSON I KNOW. DELL HAS NO AUTHORITY IN MY LIFE ANYMORE.

Relief flooded Pyro’s body, and their shoulders visibly relaxed at the knowledge that their friend was...well, still their friend. A small happy mumble preceeded their hands clasping together in unbridled delight. Their hands quickly formed a crude heart shape, before they pivoted and began to skip eagerly towards the mess hall. 

Yes, cookies. Cookies for my friends. I shall make some.

Having taken the outburst for an announcement of departure from friendship, Pyro furiously rummaged around in their satchel and presented the Sniper with a badly wilted flower. Slightly muffled speech took on a panicked tone.

“Huddah hurh! Huh Huddahuh Hahuh?”

“You know you’re all bloody mental, right?”

A tumbling flame traces the crude circle of accelerant drawn around the Pyro, who is sat cross-legged in the centre and giggling wildly. They release the match, dropping it to the ground and allowing the flames to disintegrate the wood. They watch, transfixed, with the reflection of the flames dancing merrily on their goggles. 

It briefly occurs to the Pyro that perhaps they shouldn’t have done this in the kitchen, but finding the matchbox in the kitchen drawer felt like the universe was providing an impromptu gift. Pyro, evidently, was never one to refuse a gift.

Not paying attention to the outburst from the Scout, a muffled squeak was audible through Pyro’s respirator as they - uncharacteristically gently - grasped the cat and brought it up to their goggles. Their shoulders very obviously visualised their sigh of content as they brought the cat towards them and cradled it to their chest. 

“Hrrnk Huh. Huh Huddah Hudruduhuh huh.” Pyro had now turned towards Scout again, intent on expressing gratitude. 

“I think I found sum sorta cat. S’ long though. N’keeps stealin my shit.”

Rounding the corner excitedly at the loud mention of a cat (!!!!) Pyro skids to a halt in front of the Scout, placing the backburner on the floor gently before launching themselves upright and thrusting their hands out towards Scout, nodding emphatically. Giddy, they even began to hop from foot to foot, anticipating the imminent placement of a cat into their waiting arms.

“I think I found sum sorta cat. S’ long though. N’keeps stealin my shit.”
