The Art Center is hosting an event on Monday, December 4, from 1:30-2:30pm, that I think will be of interest to you—Misperceptions: A conversation about women and technology, is a discussion with Debera Johnson, founder of Pratt’s Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator (BF+DA), about her path into the field, the current work happening at BF+DA (http://bkaccelerator.com/ ), and the general issues still faced by many women working in tech-based fields.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or want more info.  Debera is also willing to speak about the BF+DA outside of this event, and I would be happy to connect you and the other designers with her if you’re interested in learning more.

Project Collab Opportunities

There are two works of mine; the first one is about making puppy animation and the other one is about making visual piece of my sound works. Also I can provide sound for the student's animation too.

I will be going to India over winter break to start making some short films with Vishnu, a former student who has started studying permaculture, yoga and has interest in making and being in films. He also has an interest in Charlie Chaplin , so we are making an Indian adaptation where Vishnu will be a  Charlie Chaplin yoga guru farmer character, using comedy to address social stigmas. The animation would be used as the title sequence for the short films.

We (sort of) know that the color of our blood is all the same, but we do not treat each other that way, in this body of work I am investigating the color of our blood and sharing my journey through my own blood, my experience, microscopic imagery, ephemera, performance and conversation: this is the focus of my thesis show in December 2017
I envision a collaborative process that determines the best form for the animation that could be included in my thesis show in December - this collaboration starts after you see the work and share your relationship to the color of your blood - it would include some basic facts on blood, sound and imagery.

I am working on a book that restructures Art Therapy as it is practiced into Art Therapy as Art Practice; featuring new activities that venture away from typical therapeutic practices of escapism and meditation, to the art practices of observation and then separation through metaphor etc. with myself as a case study.
I'd be interested in an animation that would give this insight to the book and the goal- I've been playing with the phrase "for fans of Oliver Sacks" - so perhaps edgy imagery and toned down language?

Project 1:Strange Weather is a project which explores the way we talk about the changing climate, and the way we do not. I would be interested to see an animation of different weather patterns and news headlines that would suggest how we are combining visual and textual tactics to communicate about a seemingly controlled sense of nature. OR Animations which consider the colors that have been added to weather maps in the recent years dependent upon the exceeded precipitation and/or heat indexes, etc. (One of the instances just happened due to heavy rainfall during Hurricane Harvey!)
Project 2:Walks, Maps, and the Aerial PerspectiveThis project focuses on how we engage directly with our vernacular environments and how the aerial perspective (gps renderings of the land) modifies our experience and memory of being in the land/cityscape.I would be interested to see an animation of walking, perhaps split screen, where one perspective is from an aerial perspective, and one from a planar perspective, or feet walking, etc.

Proposal 1: Flushing Bay and Creek
For the past three years I have studied how the problems and solutions of water quality in Flushing Bay and Creek might be better communicated to the public-- this research has revealed a complex story behind the forgotten waterways, touching upon themes of urban ecology, waterfront access, and local development. Animations exploring real estate + urban development, public access + recreation, or infrastructure + the science behind NYC's polluted waterfront ecology would be extremely useful.
Proposal 2: Queens SOUPI run an annual crowdfunded micogranting community dinner called Queens SOUP, based off of the model coined by Detroit SOUP. While we gear up for the 2018 dinner, it would be great to have an animation that explains how SOUP works as well as all the different ways Queens residents can engage with the program.
