Scattered around the lake are not only skeletons but also spearheads, leather slippers, and rings. This site is the final resting place of approximately 300 individuals, whose remains were first discovered in 1942. The cause of their deaths remains a mystery.

Adding to the enigma, investigations revealed that all these people died simultaneously, suggesting a catastrophic event. The bones showed signs of blunt force trauma to the skulls, leading to the theory that they were caught in a severe hailstorm with no shelter.

DNA testing indicates that these bones date back to around 840 AD, meaning these skeletons lay in their icy tomb for over a millennium before their discovery.
