Dream Economics
There are communities, now all but lost, that practice dream sharing. Individuals describe their dreams, and together the community constructs their daily purpose together. This sort of conscious ritualing makes a nice template for what I mean by a Qualiadelic Economy. Some people have nothing to offer but their dreams and that’s okay – not everyone is a poet or has the strength of an athlete…

Ego as Qualia
Ego is the inner landscape that our connection to ecosystems will replace. Ego comes into being in our growing and it helps us endure. But after sometime the ego’s landmarks and pathways that once helped us survive now fence us in. Ego is not made of matter – it cannot be worn out like the sole of a shoe. Ego, rather, recedes from relevance like an out of date technology or a bad idea – like…

It’s Pretty Obvious
Qualia may be scientifically unprovable, like god, but we literally can see qualia with our eyes. It exists, tangibly upon the senses. We only interpret what touches our senses as matter. We have know way of knowing whether matter actually exists. I guess our “common” sense tells us matter exists – but what about our “uncommon” sense?

The Economy of Addiction
When we start out we are taught a few things about drugs and addictions in general: they’re dangerous, sinful, yada yada yada. If we listen, like responsible children, these cautions become landmarks that steer us away from such behaviors. But for most of us other things sneak in and the thought of playing with fire becomes less black and white: it might be fun, we could meet interesting people,…

Ritual to Routine
No matter how complex or deep qualia is, eventually it morphs from landmark to wallpaper…sort of the way one prophet’s epiphany can become an entire culture’s dogma.

Divine Pride II
Your mind is an ecosystem. Your body is a landscape filled with living beings. If the Qualia you send out is healthy, then there is harmony in your body. If you desire too much processed food, or beer, or girls, or things, then the landscape of the body falls apart. If you are compassionate and know that every single cell in your body is just like you – just wants to avoid suffering and find…

Going Astray
Every individual will have their own, qualiadelic journey, but there will be another, more socially constructed qualiadelic experience, and that will be a horse of a different color. That’s a horse that will lead you astray from ecosystems.

Closer to Home
Let’s bring god closer to home. Forget all this invisible power, creator of the universe stuff. God is right here on earth in ecosystems. Ecosystems provide all we need. They allow us to evolve — to become more like, well, ecosystems. Our job, if you want to call it that, is to spread contentment to those around us. That’s all – that’s all that ecosystems do. Ecosystems don’t strive toward…

Faith and Fertility
Animals and plants have faith that qualia will lead them the matter they need to survive. The fertility of ecosystems is always a good bet. The fertility of the human landscape, we have learned, is not such a good bet

Adding Practice to Theory
Combine qualia with ritual to make it less abstract – to add practice to theory. I learned this from watching animals. Crisis forces them out of their routines and their ritualing begins. They notice and play with new Qualia – and it changes their routines. It changes their senses. Their reality evolves. You won’t find this in all the theoretical papers about qualia online.

Why Qualia Matters
No one is really sure where the original matter of the universe comes from, but we do know that the very smallest particles which have been measured seem to pop in – and then back out of – existence in infinitely small amounts of time. However, as we all know, some matter doesn’t pop back out of existence, but endures. It is qualia, of course, which accomplishes this. Atoms and molecules may not…

The Animal In Us
Writing about qualia has taken me in many directions, and it has made reading so many speculative essays in science and philosophy relevant to my fanciful peregrinations…well, let’s just say that in perusing online magazines such as Aeon, I am like a kid in a candy shop. Fortunately, the exquisite Little Dopamine thrills I get are not so addictive as sugar. Indeed, they are not addictive at all,…

Dharma Pathways
Regard all dharmas as dreams – C. Trungpa All landmarks and pathways are memories inherited from evolution, culture and experience. They are creations of the mind and, like all thoughts of meaningfulness, they are just dreams. As we let go of our own dreams, and we move into other beings’ landscapes, the unreality of our illusions becomes apparent to us. But who, then, is doing the dreaming?…

Expression
To express ourselves well, we must notice what it is we are sensing carefully. We express what catches our attention – but we express that all too carelessly. It is qualia that catches our attention but we often describe mere matter. As Samuel Johnson said, “It is more from carelessness about truth than from intentional lying, that there is so much falsehood in the world.”

What is mind?
The brain, just like the body and the rest of the outer landscape, evolved to perceive, just like the rest of the senses, the qualia that clothes the world. The brain’s world, however, is not the same world as the world of the five, outward-facing senses. The brain, like any organ, sits in a landscape of familiar landmarks and pathways – cells, neurons, neurochemicals – and they are clothed in…

Dualism
Right here on earth all evolution has arisen from qualiadelic relationships. No living being can escape either the matter of which they are made or the qualia which helps them to endure. This dualism of ours (and perhaps all living beings) exists in both the outer and inner landscapes. Our senses have evolved to perceive landmarks that guide us down pathways in the world around us (including the…

Justify
Most of what comes out of our mouths serves only to justify ourselves. What we should be saying ought to justify others That is compassion This explains the difference between Jesus’ teachings and the judgmentalism that arises from them.
