Yeah sorta but on small scales. As far as coding skill in total you pretty much have to teach yourself after a while, but yeah when you try to learn a language/library by yourself you often end up doing very hacky shit when there is a much easier and cleaner way you would've known if you had a teacher. At the same time the best programmers have intrinsic knowledge of what they work on that only comes from hands-on experience.
