Biography: Visual artist and an animator with a Fine Arts degree by University of Seville and a Master’s degree in Animation by University of the Arts London. Since 2008, her work has been exhibited in several locations in Spain, as well as Athens, Vienna and Lisbon. Currently based in London where she has produced her firsts animation films using drawing as essential part of her works.
Director statement: ‘In Our Skin is a film about the beauty of the female body. Through the freckles on the protagonist’s back the viewer is taken to a world of morphing bodies. The simplicity of the line drawing brings us closer to almost abstract forms while describing forms, volumes of the body and folds in the skin. The title refers to the idea of the true self, In your skin you are who you really are. By the gesture of undressing followed by the entrance to the world of the skin, I aimed to highlight the exceptional and extraordinary from a routine gesture and create a connection with feelings and sensations available to us every day of our lives but often overlooked.’

DERE∀LISATION from Panoply on Vimeo.
The psychological condition Derealisation is best described as a subjective episode relating specifically to a person's perception of the world around them.
It often causes those suffering from the condition to regard their surroundings as unreal, distant and distorted or in some way falsified.
It is theorised that Derealisation may affect everyone at least once in their lifetime, with a low percentage of the population possibly experiencing symptoms on a more serious and sustained level.
The idea for this piece came in the aftermath of the COVID19 pandemic which isolated and fundamentally changed so many people's lives forever. The constant cycle of negative news and the strict social distancing measures combined to create a dissociative, mass-malaise. This in turn left many feeling disconnected from their everyday lives and the people around them - including members of our own team here at Panoply.
This film sets out to be a visual exploration of this phenomena.

TAKRAR | تكرار from Waref Abu Quba on Vimeo.
Takrar or Repetition is an experimental film that celebrates the timeless and intricate beauty of ancient craftsmanship. Filmed in Istanbul, the film takes us on a mesmerizing journey into the past, paying homage to Islamic, Ottoman, Greek, and Byzantine art forms.
It's hard to believe that I have finished working on this film, which occupied most of my free time over the past two years. When I first visited Istanbul in 2021, I was captivated by its timeless beauty and decided to capture it through my lens. I shot about 2,900 photos, and after editing and animating them, I created about 270 video scenes. Creating each frame of this film was an utter joy, and every new scene brought unexpected and beautiful surprises.
Collaborating with Alex Story on the music for this film was a profoundly enriching experience. Alex went above and beyond to compose music that perfectly complemented the picture. We worked on the score for over eight months, and we were also very lucky to collaborate with percussionist Robbe Kieckens, whose playing added a magical touch to the film. I couldn't be happier with the result.
After months of hard work, I'm thrilled to call this project complete and share it with you. Takrar is my tribute to ancient arts, and hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Inside Me ( Nils Frahm - Me Rework) from Dmitry Zakharov on Vimeo.
This project is based on a 3D-scan technique, which allows me to reproduce an image of my own body as a 3D object in a software. It is possible to view this object not just from outside, but also from the inside as a negative as well, which creates abstract shapes. The colouration was generated with the help of colour data I took from a real picture.
The film reflects the invisible inner world of an individual, which owns a small universe in itself, created by experiences and feelings - as well in the digital world as in real life. We try to express ourselves and approach our world another being, but still, nobody can see in our souls entirely.
For me, the process of scanning is a very important part of this work itself. The idea of digitising a body and hence the creation and deformation of its computer generated self, reflects the digital world we live in today. We create an alternative world, in which everybody can be what they want to be. In some way, it resembles to an act of creation. We never stop building more worlds for ourselves, even though there are already various ones encircling us, that we don't even understand yet. Each universe encloses another, which creates a new one, and the world next to us still seems far away. And so we look into infinity again, which inevitably surrounds us.

J GRANT BRITTAIN: 20/20 from mac premo on Vimeo.
In the world of skate photography, J Grant Brittain is eminent, a true living legend. He's been shooting skateboarding for 40 years, capturing as well as shaping its history, and thusly, worldwide popular culture. But to hear it from the man himself, it was all pretty chill. I sat down with Grant and talked about process, practice, art and fame. And also golf. Here's our talk in the form of 20 questions, each answer in 20 seconds or less.

I'm Usually Pretty Good At Naming Things from mac premo on Vimeo.
Joe Strummer of The Clash said it best: “All we’re doing is trying to communicate something. Sometimes we don't know what it is, sometimes we do."
In the summer of 2021, I decided that I had spent long enough making art with pre- ordained meaning. I wanted to see what art-making was like free from that obligation. I wanted to see what would happen if I let the process speak back to me. So I culled through my extensive arsenal of the stuff I make collage and sculpture with, and made a stack of paper about a foot tall. With this as my raw material, I cast aside the idea of outward expression with a specific agenda, and embraced inward exploration with unassigned curiosity.
Subsequently, each collage became its own independent narrative. I was speaking in an intuitive language that perhaps I didn’t have total agency over. It was scary, and it was freeing.
I knew that even if I didn’t fully understand what I was making, there would be two people who would: my kids. To be clear, I don’t mean ‘understand’ in the way one processes a distinct language: I’m not a semaphore; they are not at sea. What I mean is that these pieces might just have a poetic resonance with the two people who know me better than I know myself.
Maybe by admitting that I don’t have all the answers—not by a long shot— in a communication authored for the people who ostensibly look to me for answers, I can become as cool as Joe Strummer. At least to my kids.

Fugue from Optical Arts on Vimeo.
The film is a set of exactly repeated actions, but each time using different objects. It uses the structure of the fugue to create the films narrative, playing on the fugues characteristic of stating the subject in different voices.
Fugue in A major by Dmitri Shostakovich is a very interesting piece as it contains no harmonic dissonance at all. The Fugue was an outlier in a larger collection of Preludes and Fugues which at the time was panned by critics for being very harsh and dissonant.
The piece was written in 1950’s Russia under Stalin's regime and might have been a veiled criticism where any less subtle forms of criticism could have been very dangerous. Shostakovich had already been denounced for political incorrectness in 1948 by the communist party chairman, Andrei Zhdanov and lived under a persistent fear of the numerous purges that were taking place across Russia at that time.
The piece is performed by Sviatoslav Ricther in 1956 in Prague.
