This is the clients finished piece from the first pattern we did. This top is just a regular peplum top using african print fabric. As you can see the client is very pleased with her top that i created for her.

Learned how to use the serger machine and how i can give my garments this finished look. This was my first time using this machine as well as inserting a tag on the garment. I learned another technique of how i can finish a garment as well as insert a tag to identify where the garment is from as well. In the images shown i’m serging the corners of headwraps for ladies for an african boutique.

This is a fitting of the mockup two layer peplum top on our client we are creating. As you can see in the picture its inside out so its easier for us to mark where the top needs to be taken in. The mockup is a little big in some places which is great, its better to be a little bigger so we can take it in than to small where it wont fit. Slight adjustments need to be made but overrall the client was happy with our mockup and feels the process is coming along well.

This is the outcome result of our mockup from the pattern we learned how to grade and increase the size to this two layered peplum top. As you can see the sheet fabric is overtop of the fun pink pattern and its quarter sleeve. We wanted to create a mockup and do a fitting out of this fabric because the real fabric is going to be made out of lace and african fabric, due to the lace being expensive we want to make sure our measurements is on point as possible.

Worked on grading a pattern using a previous pattern i created already. A client wanted a peplum top but is alot bigger than the former pattern size i created earlier on nor did we have a pattern for the clients size in the studio so we used her measurements and made the pattern bigger in order to create the too she wanted. We increased the bust dart sizes, the waist , the length so we can give the client exactly what she wanted and so it would fit her.

Worked on cutting out patterns agaianipulating the size so it fits the client, making sure the grainline matches so the pattern on the fabric matches naturally when the garments come together. In the picture shown is pants and then the pants cut on the actual fabric.

Second week of my internship, My task was to trace two different patterns that fit the criteria of what the client wanted her top to look like and alter the pattern size to fit the clients measurements. Good thing we practiced our measurements in the first week so we were able to adjust the pattern size measurements to the correct measurements we need to make the proper garment. In the images above you can see a piece of the pattern we had to create and adjust and once all the adjustments were completed , we cut them out on simple fabric to create a mockup peplum top to test if the shirt is a right fit before we cut out the real fabric the client wants for her peplum top. In the images above you can see the process of creating the mockup top from the pattern to the sewing the pieces together.

For my first week at my internship with SewCreative Lounge, practicing measurements was one of the main techniques that was applied. In the image above you can see different fabrics, and a ruler where i was cutting sets of fabric with different measurements for the creation of a clutch purse. The sample fabrics i had to use as a guideline for the cluth purse were all different measurements so some i had to redo because i assumed some were the same measurements but they weren’t exacty the same they were just similar which is why measuring is very important. also during this week i had to measure a client for a garment that i will be in charge of creating , so when doing so i had to measure her bust, imaginary waist, hips , lowers hips, shoulder seams and more because she wants a peplum top and in order for the top to fit her right the measurements for those points are pivotal to have. In this week i would say measuring was the main learning aspect.
