Crazy opinion guys but I think people should be able to portray a character however they want regardless of how it may be. Sure people can be annoyed to see their characters portrayed differently and complain about it, but i don't think people should just outwardly condemn any particular way of doing it. Regardless if its super silly or super edgy, i think both sides of the spectrums should exist and you can make up your own version to satisfy what you want if you're not happy with someone else's vision. That's the beauty of it being a random fictional character on the internet, you just do what you want. This is such a basic take but regarding JTHM specifically i think the comic has a good contrast between both extremes of goofy and insane and that's what makes it comedic so seeing posts like "he would do this not that, but I'm not judging!" in reference to either of those is kind of confusing because both are equally as canon technically. Even if it wasn't, people still should be able to indulge in what they want regardless if its "out of character" or something because it really isn't that serious. i know people probably just think silly johnny art is oversaturated, to which i think people should just independently make their own content delving into the more serious mental side of him on their own. Its better to show off your ideas that way without needing to critique other peoples creations indirectly just to have the chance to say what you think on this topic in general not specific to JTHM in particular, its easy to become a hypocrite because people are bound to eventually derail from the original content of something they like for the sake of expanding on it to some extent, and judging other people for a depiction being inaccurate tends to blow up in peoples faces when they have to make exceptions for themselves.. which in the end, is a REALLY annoying way to live.

I feel like other people aren't as engaging as I'd like them to be, or they're just sort of mundane as a whole. I get tired of them, they get tired of me. A natural function of a species perpetually seeking new thrills and experiences. I feel like as much as so-called "connection" is said to be fundamental, it's also equally futile, ultimately cancelling itself out in a sort of endless cycle. In a real situation, it would for example, be that you meet someone, befriend them, and being around them becomes a commonality. You become used to having this person around to the point it's strange to you if you're without them, which is called "missing" someone, but that's simply a mindset. This attachment seems necessary until you come out of that haze typically once said attachment has already been severed, and realize that it was futile, and truly all your time was wasted, even despite the memories you've now made. Some connections are more efficient then others, or last longer, but at the core they're all the same. For this reason, I prefer to simply live life in solitude, since that way there is no pain derived from things that are completely made-up anyhow.

I'll see people delivering so-called unpopular opinions, so let me give you a truly controversial one to chew upon.

I'm kinda tired of people portraying Johnny's mental health and personality in an extremely subdued and sanitized way. This is coming from someone with genuine stigmatized mental illness. He's very blatantly got ASPD and a psychotic mood disorder, yet people will constantly leave that out of fanon, and never portray him acting out of that in an unpalatable way.

I'll see people romanticizing every other aspect of his dysfunction, yet that always gets conveniently left out. It's almost as if people will see the severely mentally ill as an object of fascination in fiction, but completely ignore their experiences outside of that. I know he's the villain of his story, but his disorders aren't inherently a part of that. If you're all giddy about Johnny, I want you to keep that same energy for people with personality disorders, and psychosis, and violent thoughts in real life.

You guys have got to stop giving Nny the most lame ass shirts. No, he would not wear some redbubble bullshit flaunting that he's mentally ill.

What he WOULD wear is:

Movie T-shirts (I understand why there is only a small amount of people who do this, since you are all uncultured cretins and cannot recognize a man of taste)

Happy Noodle Boy T-shirts (but maybe refrain on this since none of you really register it beyond "random humor" and are verging on media illiterate it seems.)

Shirts with funny creatures/aliens/bugs (He likes The Metamorphosis, The Fly, Alien, and many sci-fi/absurdist media so he'd also like things related to that. Do not draw a green emoji alien, or I send my trained beetle army after you. They do carry weapons.)

Anything with a funny phrase on it (I mean, "Don't Touch My Groin"? "Kiss Me, I'm Insane"? Draw him in even the "My mom says I'm special" shirt. Don't do unimaginative shit like "I HATE MY LIFE!" or "I HAVE A BIG KNIFE AND MENTAL ILLNESS" though. Just draw Jimmy or something if you want to do that.)

Golden Girls shirt (I don't need to explain.)

Refrain from band shirts if you are not a classical listener and obscure music connoisseur. (Meaning that if you are not familiar with the song "I Wanna Pet Your Dog" I don't like you.)

"But this band SUCKS! He would NEVER wear this shirt. He would listen to KoRn and Cannibal Corpse cuz those bands are so much better!"

If your logic is along those lines, you have not read the book or at least do not know or understand him well enough to make assumptions like that. He literally IN THE BOOK walks into a store to ask about an album from an OBSCURE BAND HE LIKES only for the cashier to say "No one likes them". HE DOES. You're all idiots. Everything sucks.

In conclusion, stop being retarded. I'm tired.
