“did it feel shorter?” it’s felt like an eternity since she transferred tracks, but that’s generally what it’s like when you’re not working towards any specific goals yourself. shiloh is happy to see mina doing something for herself, even if he knows she’s still fighting off self-doubt. he’s no stranger to the feeling. “that would bug me, actually. so much that i’d just have to convince you otherwise.” mina is a lot of things, but a failure isn’t one of them. in fact, most of the things she is are positive. “yeah. yeah, i don’t know how graduating works if you don’t have one…but anyone would be lucky you have you as a mentee.” he doesn’t want to linger on the loss of her previous mentor for too long. his relationship with death is, essentially, that of a son and his estranged father and that’s weirdly exactly what it feels like. “not really…i’ve been getting a lot of reading done.”

          ❛ JUST A LITTLE BIT .  but  hey ,  it's  a  year  closer  to  graduation ;  maybe  i'll  actually  celebrate  it  this  time . ❜  because  when  mina  finished  the  standard  track ,  her  ' graduation  party '  consisted  mainly  of  watching  horror  movies  with  cynthia ,  calling  her  parents and  lighting  candles  to  her  mother .  macaria  did  care  at  least  a  little  bit  about  one  of  her  children  graduating ,  right ?  ❛  oh  really ,  and  how  would  you  do  that ?  should  i  expect  you  to  spend  a  whole  day  texting  me  encouraging  memes  to  remind  me  of  my  worth ? ❜  the  suggestion  didn't  sound  much  like  him ,  which  is  what  made  it  hilarious  to  mina .  so  much  so  that  she  laughed .  either  way ,  it  was  nice  to  know  that  shiloh  cared .  ❛  you  think  so ?  i'm  getting  better  but  i  still  flinch  a  little  on  days  i  have  to  actually  touch  people , ❜  yet  there  hadn't  been  any  accidents  where  she  got  an  unwanted  vision .  not  thus  far  at  least .  ❛ i'll  just  have  to  find  a  patient  mentor . ❜  eyes  widen  a  bit  when  he  mentions  reading  as  of  lately ,  ❛ really ?  but  that's  great !  what  are  you  reading  right  now ?  maybe  it's  on  my  list . ❜

safiye is scrolling through her email while gigi gets ready, because sometimes it’s simpler than trying to make sense of the mess that is her calendar. “are you going to that launch party tomorrow? the one in glendale?” given everything that’s gone on over the past few months, it still feels weird just going about their lives as usual. “one of the coordinators at this venue would not stop hitting on me last time i went to an event there. like, you weren’t even technically invited, you just own the space, leave me alone.”

Astrid has mostly tried to keep up the same peppy spirit she’s always had. It’s not like she’s fully pretending, she just want to be some source of lightness amid all the, well, darkness. Behind closed doors, with her family, that’s when she lets herself grieve. Or times like this where she finds a little bit of alone time, walking along the beach in her free time, able to look out at the shore and the waves and just feel. When she notices another girl on the beach, she almost slips back into that sunshine persona, but then she realizes she recognizes the redhead and her heart squeezes. She’s done a lot of putting up a facade in front of Theo, and after what they’ve both been through, she can’t help but be her honest self. She’s quiet and gentle when she approaches, unsure whether the daughter of Ares even wants to see her, or if it’s her place to be here at all when she hasn’t been the past month, but Astrid tries anyway. “Hey.”

              IT WAS NEARLY EMBARRASSING ,  to  think  theo  failed  to  wear  her  usual , confident  expression  on  what  was  supposed  to  be  her  special  day .  in  previous  years ,  the  girl  would've  dragged  other  heroes  and  a  few  friends  to  the  lounge  to  celebrate ,  or  to  a  bar  near  nl  if  she  was  feeling  particularly  charitable  ( after  all ,  drinks  aren't  cheap ) .  but  this  year  was  a  stark  contras  to  her  loud  reds ;  it  was  quiet ,  as  if  trying  to  slip  by  unnoticed .  needless  to  say  she  was  disappointed  in  her  lack  of  birthday  spirit .  staring  out  at  the  water ,  theo  couldn't  help  frowning  a  bit  —  was  this  supposed  to  help ?  she  thought  the  gentle  waves  were  ridiculously  boring ,  though  perhaps  that  was  what  she  needed  right  now ;  calm ,  quiet .  steady .  she  snaps  out  of  her  thoughts  as  a  familiar  voice  fills  the  silence .  shit .  ❛  hey  bubbles , ❜  she  greeted  with  the  smallest ,  almost  inexistent  grin ,  though  the  effort  was  there .  nevermind  the  slip ,  she'd  just  apologize  for  it  later .  her  inner  wrist  rubs  her  eyes ,  not  that  she'd  been  crying  of  course .  that's  ridiculous .  ❛ i  can  go  if  you  want .  don't  think  the  whole  ' listening  to  the  waves '  thing  is  for  me . ❜

“this will be your first full year on the medical track, right?” he asks, although he already knows the answer…it’s more that, as a graduate from the standard track himself, shiloh doesn’t know much about how it works when you transfer to a different track. more classes and longer time as a student, he can only assume. “you’re gonna do great,” he tacks on, knowing he doesn’t have to ask if she’s nervous to go back to classes.

aha ..  babie .. mina is okay ?  trevor's death knocked her down 3729 steps and she's been having nightmares ever since because of the amount of deaths that did and didn't happen that night which sort of made her short circuit ngl .  she's been keeping to herself even more than usual i feel which is probably why she hasn't been seen around nl much these past few months .  you're most likely to find her diving head first into her medical studies and whatever little free time she has is spent working on her art, hanging with the same people or just lighting candles in her room and trying to talk to her mom

my boy ... my good good boy ... jesse is okay ?  he's decided to put on his big boy pants and be the dad of the j crew & associates ,  which is a terrible idea and he undeniably sucks at it .  didn't last for longer than 3 hours maybe .  he's still working at the pet shop but spends a little bit of his free time creating little creatures that can help people who might be dealing with trauma from the attack and all ,  kinda like a service dog sort of situation except ... they're not dogs they can be a bunch of different things .  bet he made a service ferret the other day .  you'll probably find him working on that and simping over any pretty person he sees oof  also yes the dogs are ok <3

sib is ... she simply is .  she feels like some people have been onto her since the whole thing happen so she's been trying to lay low and focus on her lil medical track duties but it's been weird bc she can't just erase the memory of every person that comes to her without actual permission okay :/  she's trying to be a better person i swear .  still a little hung up on angel  and might consider pop a thing or two in his memories when she feels the unavoidable and excruciating void of loneliness but i swear she's trying <3  EYE
