To the person I left behind

You may be asking yourself, why did I leave? How can I possibly just walk away like nothing happened and act like our relationship never existed? Well, I wondered that myself, I was afraid of this day that it would never be possible for me to feel this way towards you and no longer love you the way I used to. 

Believe me, it is not as easy to walk away as most people think. Many people say I am incredibly strong after such a long term relationship. Of course I still think about him, I still cringe when I see other couples together because I am hurt I couldn’t have that with him when I thought it was going to be forever. I haven’t spoken about it too deeply because I like to keep things to myself and handle things on my own to figure it out on my own. 

It’s true, people do change for the better or worse. I have made changes within myself and I realized my pace was incompatible with you. I wanted to grow and take a new path, but for some reason it no longer felt right to have you by my side. It may sound cold, but everyone needs to find that person who will not only understand your growth and your path, but to also grow a similar pace and with a similar mindset. 

I have always grown with a mature mindset, being the oldest, being the first grandchild, the first niece, therefore being around a lot of adults. I have always been fascinated with the future, and getting my life together, from wanting to go on the intense roller coasters when I was 6, but I was too short to go on them, to looking into life insurances when I was 16. I am 23 now, still struggling for that dream to live on my own and build a family. 

The important thing to achieve this goal is to take steps, tiny steps now in order for everything to fall in place later. We cannot just wait for things to fall in place and that is where we went wrong. Things are not just going to come up and appear at your convenience. You need to get out there, take all the opportunities even though they may scare you. 

I have taken the biggest risk by leaving you, and discovering things out of my comfort zone to see what other possibilities are out there. I need you to do the same. Live life, achieve your life goals, don’t hold back, and continue to stay positive.
