Ya-huh. Sure.
Is this at least official rage bait, or did the noble and exclusive KCC get suckered by yet another basic social engineering trick?
I have heard it debated whether Karrakis is a wheezing old crone, shambling to her end, or a mighty amazon, striding towards ever-greater glory. Regardless of one's interpretation of this, it does comfort me to know that Karrakis is consistently seen as an adult, and not an overgrown infant still clinging to its cradle.

Oh for the love of-
What kind of teacher blackmails a student into making a conspiracy post?
I hate the Baronies so much some days...
A rather concerning point made by some of our senior staff (Underbaron Iphianassa), perhaps it should be investigated?

I know warfare is a thing that must be taught. My problem is that "war" is a topic that is too broad for collegiate level study.
I would expect to see Logistics, Small Unit Tactics, Interstellar Strategy, and similar subjects taught at the KCC. I wouldn't expect to see "War" as a class one can fail, the same way I wouldn't expect to see "Space" as a class.

Ugh.
So my doctor prescribed me something to help with all the nausea I've been having. It worked, but apparently it had the side effect of making me act like a "raging bitch" (direct quote). If I've gone off on anyone in the past week or two, I apologize.
We're still getting things figured out, but my old teammates have declared that I am healthy enough and civil enough to get my account back. I'm currently going through the mess they left me and trying to get caught up.
What's this shit about @corsair-news-alliance deciding to go legit and join Union?

I transitioned during my time in the Baronies. My transition package was provided by SSC, so it was smoother and allowed more flexibility than what is normally available through IPS-N. I have served with many individuals who transitioned using the IPS-N or GMS packages, however, and none of them had any complaints.
I cannot speak to the options Harrison Armory provides, if anyone is curious they should contact Grenadier.
-
Though it is perhaps crass to say, I can confirm Han Jae's carnal popularity within the Baronies. Among others, I should say. I have far better things to do than to watch pankrati, much less lust after any specific pilot.
You should transition NOW

I regret to inform you that Quixote is currently offline due to health concerns. I would relay your message, but to be frank I have no interest in passing along your defense of such a deeply problematic turn of phrase.
"Earthman" is, to put it bluntly, rather anthrochauvinistic. I would certainly not say you hold such beliefs, but I would hardly blame someone for being offended if you referred to them in that way.
I am disappointed in you, Lord Cannamos. I would have expected more tact and diplomacy from one of your stature, particularly when posting in an official capacity.
and for the information of my online companions, yes, my wife is also married to another. When my duties take me far from Khayradin, a multistructured arrangement as we have is simply practical, and a quite traditional form. I would not leave her alone to pine after me, and cold passage does not agree with her.

I apologize on behalf of my companion, Marquees.
Quixote was recently placed on new medication that appears to have left them out of sorts. In the interest of their mental health and decorum, we have insisted they retire from the Omninet for a short while. We will also be speaking to their physician about alternative treatment options.
I will speak with them later to explain the Baronic perspective on Earth and Cradle, and how one ought not be offended when one butts into an otherwise private conversation.
You are obviously well traveled and I find your perspective on this subject most intriguing. If I may be so bold, however, I fear such a bold and deliberate rejection may cause needless offense.
One of your rank and experience must surely have encountered certain nobles whose character and competence perhaps do not match their rank. Yet one would not say so to their face or refuse to provide the respect their titles demand, not without serious cause. Likewise, you would be quite justified in taking offense should someone not grant you the respect due to a Marquee, even if they do not believe in the concept of nobility.
So it is with the name "Cradle".
Though perhaps I overstep. If so, I trust you shall forgive my impudence and allow me to take my leave with whatever grace and dignity remains. I bid you good morning, afternoon, or evening, depending on your local clock, and will take no more of your valuable time.

When my duties take me far from Khayradin, a multistructured arrangement as we have is simply practical, and a quite traditional form. So let me get this straight. You're saying that what you and your 5000 year old records call Cradle is more important than the name used by the people who still consider it home?
You realize how arrogant that sounds, right?
Karrakis has suffered from SecComm's anthrochauvanism, but you may recall that SecComm was overthrown in a bloody revolution. "Earth" is now the headquarters of ThirdComm, which explicitly rejects that bullshit. Anthrochauvanism is certainly still a problem, but you won't find it coming from Cradle. From what I hear it's as metropolitan as they come these days... which you would know if you bothered to care about a culture other than your own.
Throne Karrakis is not my Throne, but it is a throne. Cradle may not be your cradle, but that's been its name for over 5000 years. You don't need to buy into the metaphor to call a planet by its official name.

#ooc: i missed that-good lore catch!#ooc: it is a very nice touch#ooc: and makes for a fun excuse to start fake Omninet fights

The fact that you insist on using "Earth" instead of "Cradle" or "Union" says volumes.
It's been thousands of years since Cradle was called "Earth". The fact that you either didn't know this (which seems incredibly unlikely) or deliberately decided to ignore it makes me think you are really only interested in taking potshots at a version of Union culture that either hasn't existed for centuries or never existed at all.
Besides, it's just rude. How would you feel if someone from Union called Karrakis "KA-02B"?

We're a bit less formal in Northstar Galactic Command. Wind commanders had fixed call signs based on their ship assignment (my last one was "Intruder"), but everyone else got to sort their call signs out themselves.
Boarding teams can get away with a lot, because the casualty rate is so high. It takes a specific kind of crazy to volunteer for the sort of mission where one in three people who leave are coming back on a stretcher or in a bag. They can't afford to jerk people around playing power games.
... though frankly, call signs by consensus are usually just as humiliating. I could spin up some bullshit about how it builds up comradery and helps integrate new people into the team, but let's be honest. It's hazing. It may or may not have its benefits, but pilots don't do it for some deep psychological reason. We do it because we like screwing with each other.
Quixote sounds like an okay name, until you wake up to find a fake beard glued to your face and your cross hairs hacked to look like a windmill. Someone glued a kid's tiara to Princess's flight helmet and hung a pink canopy around her bunk. We put a bucket hat and a plume on Grenadier's Mech, and woke him up with fife and drums.
Nobody ever fucked with Marathon, but that was because he controlled the snacks.
[ON TOP OF {EVERYTHING} ELSE, I HAVE BEEN TUNING IN TO {COMMS} CHATTER AND HAVE NOTICED A {VEXING} TREND.]
[MY CALLSIGN, OFFICIALLY REGISTERED WITH EMPLOYER {ESCHATON}, IS CALLSIGN {SUNDISK}.]
[HOWEVER, WITH INCREASING COMMONALITY, I HAVE BEEN HEARING {JAEGERS} AND {SUPPORT} UNITS REFER TO ME AS {FRISBEE}.]
[SOMEONE TELL THEM TO {STOP}. :(]

I'm also in the Shore, on Lighthouse Station. I'd offer to buy you a drink but I suspect we're still pretty far from each other.
Hopefully you can get out before it all goes up in flames.
Hello! We here would like to thank everyone who attended our newest professor, Francine Angela Rivera’s lecture on Karrakin Politics and Culture! She claims to have enjoyed her experience, and is excited to teach a full class on the subject soon!
Prof. Rivera extends personal thank yous to everyone who came, and made it a wild refuel first experience!

I'm sorry, did you say you got stabbed by a PIPECLEANER?
I've watched those monsters literally climb up a Mech's limbs and start peeling open the cockpit until they could stab the pilot to death. Forget bed rest, you're lucky to be alive!
You mentioned being at an Academy. Which Academy, exactly? I ask because no learning facility I can think of has a good reason to keep PIPECLEANERS on hand. Was this an assassination attempt?
-
As for your Mech, sounds like it might be liturgicode. Horus likes to leave little presents for pilots to find sometimes. Sometimes there's a reason, sometimes it's totally random.
Congratulations, I guess?
CORRESPONDENCE: ASHTON-212
Ugh, bedrest fucking sucks.
Apparently, I dislocated my hip during that sparring match- in addition to the stabbing that Pipecleaner gave me. Ori’s been keeping me out of physical classes because of it, and I’m bored out of my fucking mind.
I have an upcoming appointment with a Passions reader, of all things. Overheard the booking conversation, and something about a “dysphoric alignment” was brought up. I thought that was all hammered out back when I first got licensed…
//[AUDIO: DETAIL]> A deep sigh, then-
Nothing that the Academy’s got in stock works anymore. Fried a neurosync suite the other day, and the nightmares have just been getting worse. Normally, localized religions aren’t really observed here- main priority is keeping Pilots functional, not spiritual- but if anyone’s gonna know about tech ghosts, it’s the folks who talk to them on the regular. I guess.
—
Speaking of getting my license- did some reading while on bedrest. Turns out that, in Union’s eyes, I’m LL4- which doesn’t make any sense because I only have the two ranks in Tortuga.
Thermie called me and said that one of the optics on xeir chestplate was “melting open.” Hangar security came by and checked it out, but nobody’s telling me what it is- just that it’s “not malignant” and “shouldn’t spread quickly.” Wouldn’t even show me pics of it.
I’m gonna start wringing necks if I don’t get straight answers soon- FUBAR’d shoulder or not.
