Quodo Week 2025 Prompts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our prompts are here! Hi everyone -- Quodo Week 2025 is a week dedicated to the Odo/Quark pairing from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It runs from August 4th to 10th with the prompts below. Basically, you create however many works you like for the set of prompts given, and then post them on the appropriate day during the week, and then we can look at what everyone created!
Prompts:
Day 1 (Mon 4 Aug): Meeting Moogie | "I named this drink after you"
Day 2 (Tue 5 Aug): Early relationship/Terok Nor | "You read my diary?!?"
Day 3 (Wed 6 Aug): Protective | Aphrodisiacs & love potions
Day 4 (Thu 7 Aug): Interrogation | Odo using his shapeshifting for domestic reasons
Day 5 (Fri 8 Aug): "You're the only person I can turn to..." | Screencap redraw
Day 6 (Sat 9 Aug): Working together (e.g. solving a crime, helping with a mission) | Inspired by fanwork
Day 7 (Sun 10 Aug): Quark's moon | Free prompt
Rules:
Works must feature Odo/Quark as the primary relationship. Gen works focused on both of them, as well as poly ships involving both Odo and Quark, are also allowed.
All media types allowed except AI-generated works.
Prompts: Use the prompts however you like. One prompt or both, and any number of works. Works on any theme may be posted on Day 7.
Posting early: You do NOT have to wait until the week itself to publish your works, but if you post early, please advertise your work again on the relevant day during the week itself.
Posting: When posting for Quodo Week, please include the day and prompt in your post (e.g. Day 3: Protective). Also, tag your post with #quodoweek or #quodoweek2025 and/or tag the @quodoevents blog so that I can find and reblog your post.
All content is allowed, but please do use required site warnings as appropriate.
WIPs allowed, both in the sense that you can repurpose a preexisting WIP for this event if it fits, and in the sense that unfinished works are welcome to be posted.
This event is primarily run through Tumblr. However, if you like, you can also post your works to the AO3 collection. It is open for posting at any time.
Any questions? Drop this blog an ask.
Please reblog! @thebigbangblogproject

Just a reminder that voting closes at the end of today, so you have one more day to get your votes in!
Quodo Week - prompt voting
Hi everyone, it's time to vote on prompts for Quodo Week! We have 85 options -- please pick your favorite 15 of them! Voting ends May 9th.
I did some light cleanup on the prompts I got where, if I felt the prompt received was too complicated/had too much going on, I split it into two simpler prompts. But mostly I left them unchanged. While there are some pairs of similar prompts, I felt they were different enough to keep them as separate options.
Anyway, go vote!

Reblogging this here -- help me decide which event to run this year! I can run the Quodo WIP event again this year, or something else -- up to you! (In any case, I'll be running the event out of this blog, maybe renaming it as needed.)
Summer Quodo event poll
Sorry for all the posts and activities here recently, but in addition to the Quodo in Every Episode event constantly going on in the background, I am also once again going to run a summer Quodo event with a timeline of around mid-April to the end of August. Like last year, please help me pick which event you'd like me to run!
Explanations on each of these below the cut:
Option #1: Ship week
Here, the event would be a Quodo ship week most likely in mid August. Basically, the way a ship week works is that there is a designated week for posting fanworks for a ship, where each day in the week is associated with a prompt (or maybe two prompts, to give people choice). The last day in the week is usually a free choice day. Basically, it's a way to have a concentrated burst of fanworks for a pairing, and you can see the different ways people interpreted each prompt, and it's also kind of a team effort? Or you can treat it as a challenge to try to post one thing each day -- it's completely up to you how many days/prompts you fill.
The event will start by me collecting some prompt suggestions, holding a vote on them, and selecting a week's worth of prompts and publishing the list of prompts for each day. Then people make as many fanworks as they would like for the themes and post their work on the appropriate day.
Proposed timeline: April: Collect prompts May: Vote on prompts and release prompt list Jun-Aug: Creation period August: The ship week
Option #2: Collab event
For this event, basically, you would get paired with another Quodo fan and the goal would be to collaborate in order to produce a fanwork or a pair of fanworks. What a "fanwork collaboration" means can vary a lot and depends on what the members of the group are interested in (basically, when signing up, you would specify your preferences for the type of collab you would be interested in, and these preferences will be taken into account when I do the matching).
Here are some types of collaboration, roughly in order from least amount of coordination/cooperation to most amount of coordination:
1) Writing/creating to the same prompt/idea: Basically, the coordination happens at the beginning of the project with the two members agreeing on a general idea/prompt to work with, and then both members go off and create and share what they made at the end. This way you get two unique takes on the same idea. Very little coordination involved.
2) One person creates work inspired by/complementary to the other's: Here, the creators collaborate in order to produce a pair of related works -- first, one work is produced and then the second work is made in relation to that work. This could be the second creator's take on the same idea -- a remix/retelling/redraw of the original work, or an illustration for a fic or a fic inspired by art, etc. (It's also possible for both people to each create an original work and then swap, although this is more time-consuming and may not work with people's time.) This requires a bit more coordination, maybe sharing early drafts or handing work off by a deadline.
3) Collaborating on the same fanwork: This option involves two people working together to produce a single work. You can choose to do this however you like -- for example, with fic, maybe you swap the writer every few paragraphs, or do it roleplay style with each person writing one character. With art, maybe one artist does lineart and then hands it off to the other person to color (or both artists each do lineart and then send to the other to do the coloring). Hard mode!
You can treat this event like a bang or reverse bang if you like by using option (2). A bang is where someone writes a (long) fic (doesn't have to be long for this event) and they get an artist who illustrates it or provides some other kind of art or complementary fanwork (could be headers/graphics for the fic, podfic, etc.). A reverse bang is the opposite -- an artist comes up with a piece of art (maybe a sketch) and a fic writer crafts a fic around that piece of art.
There would be periodic check-ins just to see if there are any members/groups that have gone inactive and which might require reassignment to a new group.
The sign-up form would collect things like: - What fanwork medium you would prefer or are planning to work in. - What type of collabs you're open to. - What type(s) of fanworker (fic writer, artist, etc.) you would prefer to work or not work with. - How often you would like to check in.
Proposed timeline: Apr/May: Sign-ups and matching Jun-Aug: Creation period August: Work reveals (in pairs)
Option #3: WIP-finishing/motivation event
I ran this one last year, and would definitely be happy to run it again if there's interest! The purpose of this event would be to provide motivation/company/social pressure to finish a longer/more ambitious sort of project. People can sign up with a new or existing project they would like to complete by the deadline, and then they would use the work period to see if they can finish the work, in the company of others doing the same. It's called a WIP-finishing event, but really, any project is allowed even if it's brand new. That said, this event might be useful for projects you've been meaning to get around to for a long time and haven't, or intimidating projects a bit beyond your skill level so far. Any media is allowed -- fic, art, comics, podfic, vids, meta, crafts, etc.
The plan would be to use a very similar timeline as last year (although I'm happy to adjust the deadlines or format if anyone has suggestions for improvement!). Like last year, sign-ups would open in April and remain open throughout the work period. The main work period is May through July and then the posting period is in August. However, August is just when *something* has to be posted by; there is also a long posting period afterward in case people have a work they'd like to post gradually in installments. Works are advertised in August and then a masterlist of all works is posted in November (or after all works have finished posting, if that point is earlier).
The sign-up form would collect things like: - Your name and name/description of project - (Optional) Progress so far and projected length/time commitment of project. - (Optional) Goals you would like to have hit by certain check-ins.
It would be fine to drop projects at any time.
Proposed timeline: Apr/May: Sign-ups. May-Jul: Creation period, with optional check-ins at the beginning of Jun/Jul/Aug. August: Posting date sign-ups, followed by work posting and promos. November: Work posting deadline. Final wrap-up/celebration and masterlist.
Which one would you be most interested in? Let me know!

Quo-do the Thing - Wrap-up and Masterlist
Hello everyone! I believe all works that people were intending to post for our Quodo WIP event have finished posting so now it's time for our round-up!
Running on Empty by @neptune-flytrap (2924 words) - As Odo struggles to adapt to his new body, Quark helps him the best he can.
Doctor Odo and the No Good Very Bad Physical by @rulesofacquisition (1215 words) - Quark finally has no choice but to have his annual physical. Both he and Dr. Odo are infinitely displeased about this.
Mission to the Dominion by @chacusha (33782 words) - Three years after the end of the Dominion War, Quark is sent by his brother on an important assignment to the Gamma Quadrant. The only problem? Odo is his chaperon. And old feelings keep bubbling up as Odo irritatingly refuses to leave Quark's side.
These can also all be viewed in the Quodo WIP Event AO3 collection. Check them out, and a BIG congrats to everyone who managed to Quo-Do the Thing this year! 馃帀
Thank you to everyone who participated and helped me pick an event to run this year. The next Quodo event I'll be running is Quodo Mini-fest V(!) starting in January (well, and the Quodo in Every Episode is always ongoing as well). See you then! :)

Quo-do the Thing - Amnesty posting period (Aug 25-31)
Tumblr media
Hi everyone! We are now in our amnesty posting period for the Quodo WIP event. If you worked on something for this event that you haven't posted yet, feel free to post it from now until the end of August, even if it's not finished -- we want to celebrate your progress with you! And tag this blog so I know it exists and can reblog -- some posting information here if it's helpful.
I'll be posting a final round-up/masterlist later, after all the works currently in the process of being published have finished posting. If you intend to post something but need to post after the end of August, let me know so I'm aware of the situation. Otherwise, thanks for joining us on this journey, and congrats! 馃挍

Title: Running on Empty Author: @neptune-flytrap Ratings/warnings: G / None Summary: As Odo struggles to adapt to his new body, Quark helps him the best he can. Word count: 2,924
Author comments: This is a project I started and dropped this past January. At the time I estimated I was around 70-80% done, and was certain I was going to finish it soon since it was so close to completion. That did not happen, lol. As time went on, I lost all motivation to finish it, and it probably would have remained in my WIP graveyard if not for this event. I ended up fluffing the story a bit, so while my original estimate of the fic being 70-80% done was probably accurate for how I originally envisioned it, I ended up at least doubling my word count once I picked the story back up again for Quo-do The Thing. I'm happy with how it turned out, and hope y'all enjoy it too!

Title:聽Mission to the Dominion Ratings/warnings:聽Teen (mainly for language and implied/fade-to-black sex) Summary: Three years after the end of the Dominion War, Quark is sent by his brother on an important assignment to the Gamma Quadrant. The only problem? Odo is his chaperon. And old feelings keep bubbling up as Odo irritatingly refuses to leave Quark's side. (A post-canon Quodo fic written for Unconventional Courtship.) Word count:聽20k in 11 chapters posted so far (the full fic is roughly 30k words)
Comments: The fic isn't fully posted yet (the fic is finished, but I'll probably finish posting sometime in September), but here's what I did for the @quodo-wip-event! I started this fic two years ago in May 2022 but was unable to make either of the Unconventional Courtship deadlines in 2022 or 2023. But I wanted to finish it this year, which required pushing through a bunch of plot and worldbuilding decisions in order to just get this fic done!

Just a reminder to claim a promotion date in August for anything you'll be planning on posting for this event!
Quo-do the Thing! - Final check-in and promotion date claiming (Aug 1-7)
Tumblr media
Here it is, the final check-in! This one is a bit different from the previous check-ins -- you only have to fill this out if you have a work ready to post (at least partially) during the August posting month, and you will need to fill it out once for each such work.
馃搮 Final check-in and posting date claiming form 馃搮
The check-in form is open from now until the end of August 7th (whenever that is for you). After that point, I will use the information I've gotten to create a promotion posting schedule. More information on how promotion posting works over here.
Sign-ups are technically still open, but less useful at this stage. If you've been on the fence about signing up and have something you intend to post for this event, it is OK to just request a posting date using the form above without needing to sign up. The AO3 collection is also open for posting, if you have already finished a work that fits this event. (You don't have to wait until your promotion date to post your work, although you can if you like.)
Helpful links: Sign-up form | AO3 collection | Event info | Posting info
Below the cut is a reminder of what you said you'd like to have done by August, for those who have signed up. If you marked that you are using Tumblr to follow this event, I have @'ed you -- I hope it's okay.
chacusha:
Quodo UC II: Goal: N/A
colorcoded:
Smutty Quodo art: Goal: The whole thing, if it hasn't already been finished
@mossmx:
QuodoCook: Goal: rendering/shading
neptuneflytrap:
Go the Eff to Sleep: (No August check-in goals written.)
@rulesofacquisition:
Doctor Odo and the No Good Very Bad Physical: Goal: Edits
Weaver:
Earring: Goal: 3 chapters?
@yvanka:
Anniversary date: (No August check-in goals written.)
Quark bi bi bi vid: Goal: Fixing audio, timing specific clips
Use the form above to request a promotion date, which will serve as your deadline. Here we go -- it's the final stretch!

Quo-do the Thing: Promotion posting information
Hi everyone! As promotion date claiming is coming up soon (opens tomorrow, August 1st and closes August 7th), I'm providing some more information so that everyone knows how posting will work.
Every work made for Quo-do the Thing will have the chance to be advertised on this blog during August. For the August check-in, I'll be posting a form where you can submit your top choices for the promotion date for your work, in the range of August 10-24. Based on what people submit, I'll create a schedule that spreads out work advertising. Your promotion date is when you have to have posted your work by (or at least something new that people can look at, if you haven't fully finished or are spreading out your posting). You can post earlier than your date if you like, but the advertisement will still go out on that date (give or take a few hours).
The final week of August (August 25-31) is available for people who missed their date or who weren't sure if they'd be able to finish/submit anything / want to sneak a work in at the last minute.
Promotion happens primarily through this blog on Tumblr (mainly because Tumblr is the best site for sharing things). You therefore have four options for how to promote your work:
Make your own post/crosspost on Tumblr: You can make a post/crosspost to your own Tumblr blog (assuming you have one), and then ask the quodo-wip-event Tumblr to reblog that post. 鉃★笍 In this case, when you post, either tag it with #quodowipevent2024 or mention @quodo-wip-event in the body of the post to bring it to my attention.
Post to the event blog: Alternatively, you can submit an advertisement post for your work directly to this blog.
You can post your work somewhere and make a crosspost whose content can be easily copied to Tumblr. For example, you can post fic to AO3 or art to DeviantArt and then create a post on Dreamwidth advertising this work, with the intention that the mod will copy the content of the Dreamwidth post to the event Tumblr. 鉃★笍 In this case, if you crosspost in a place I mod, I will see it and copy it to the Tumblr automatically. If the crosspost is not somewhere I am likely to see (i.e. your own personal journal), then please send a URL of the crosspost to the mod when you've made it, and I will make a similar advertisement post on Tumblr.
You can post your work somewhere other than Tumblr and then ask the mod to make an advertisement post on Tumblr. For example, if you only have an AO3 account, you can post your fic there, but then you'll also need to let me know how you'd like it advertised. 鉃★笍 In this case, please email or submit (using the August check-in Google form) your crosspost info to the mod, who will make a Tumblr post using that information.
I hope this make sense. Let me know if you have any questions!
Suggested posting format
The format of your post is entirely up to you, but if you want some guidance, I've provided some templates below.
Example format for posting fic:
[Link to fic]
Title:聽 Ratings/warnings:聽 Summary:聽 Word count:聽
Comments: (feel free to tell us here about this project -- how it got stuck, how you got unstuck, what is significant about you finishing it, etc.)
Example format for posting media to a media-heavy website (Tumblr, Pillowfort, etc.):
(Image/embed)
(Artist commentary; again can include information about finishing the project -- how it got stuck, how you got unstuck, what is significant about you finishing it, etc.)
Example format for posting media to a text-heavy website (e.g. Dreamwidth):
[Art] Work title (or [Vid] Work title, etc.)
Ratings/warnings:聽 Summary:聽 Length: (if applicable)
Comments: (feel free to tell us here about this project -- how it got stuck, how you got unstuck, what is significant about you finishing it, etc.)
