I know that reader insert stuff has always existed and that the main reason why it disappeared for so long is because of anti-"Mary Sue" shit and then cringe culture/anti shit and so it coming back is actually a great sign for fandom BUT—

It is fucking EVERYWHERE. It is impossible to look at any fandom tag, any character tag, any ship tag without getting a flood of reader insert things. No one ever tags things consistently so you can't filter it out, looking at any fandom tag means that all your recommended posts are reader inserts, and it's getting harder to find a lot of specific content on ao3 that isn't a reader insert. It is constant and nonstop and everywhere and some fandoms are worse than others (*cough cough* The Pitt *cough cough*) but I don't think any fandom is "safe".

And again, I respect the hustle but TAG YOUR FUCKING SHIT. USE READER INSERT TAGS AND BE FUCKING CONSISTENT.
