"life has been, -" digging through her dictionary, minnie struggled to find the perfect word to describe her life since parting ways from her ex. "an adventure." the closest expression she could muster. "yes! an ep. nervous, excited, you know how it goes." the male idol had a few solo tracks and albums under his belt to understand. "besides that, things have gone well -" was it appropriate to speak of who she's romantically seen since their breakup? the wonder not lasting long when minnie pressed on. "i'm still seeing johnny." she guessed that he would know given the times they've crossed paths and how close she and johnny were at events and around their friends.

clammy palms, she swiftly dries them against her jeans. conversations with exes or anyone that wasn't in your day to day life were often tricky. this was no different. any minute now, their talk would kick start and minnie wouldn't feel like she was pulling on teeth. "how are things with you and mina?" she wondered if she overstepped with naming his current girlfriend and hopes to save the evening by quickly adding, "how are the guys?" she refers to his members, taking a nervous swig of her water.

"no, i didn't." a characteristic trait of his to be truthful despite the unbearable discomfort it gave the parties. his quick witted words now masked with a smile to keep spirits high. "i had doubts of coming today too. you're not the only one who was nervous of meeting." palms in the air when he admitted his next truth. "our big pants is getting tested today. we'll see if we can last." he snickered. "it's quite alright. i'll survive without a beverage, for now." he waves off her mission to track down their assigned waiter.

"how've you been?" the updates given to the rapper in the time apart from his ex has mostly been through a screen or whispers given in the industry. a bad trait that changkyun thought needed fixing but he wouldn't complain in this instance. they were each other's person at one point in life and there was nothing wrong about knowing how they were now. "you're releasing music from what i heard?" he asks like he's questioning the source he heard the whispers from.

an exhausting day made for an upset minnie. she struggled keeping food in her stomach for the majority of the evening and her mood was short with others. disagreements about her upcoming schedule and her body not wanting to cooperate. she figured it was due to her workload and her cycle being out of whack. nothing too suspicious when minnie struggled when work got this way. longer days, shorter breaks, new people to meet, lyrics to memorize.. - it was too much to her body that it flipped her days, making it difficult to track her period cycle.

the first smile of the day seemed to be when johnny texted her. suddenly her mood shifted from the cranky one back into her bubbly self.

minnie: give me another 5 🤍

minnie rushes in getting her items together now that she longs to be in the arms of johnny instead of listening to another lecture. "i'll see you guys tomorrow." she tells her team, slipping her phone into her purse when she hurries out but not before her stomach feels like it's churning again.

minnie: give me 20?

minnie shoots johnny another text before she rushed into the restroom.

johnny sat impatiently in his car outside the CUBE building, waiting for minnie to finish up so he could bring her back to his apartment. a lot had been on his mind over the past few weeks, but one thought that kept returning was that he wanted to take the next step with minnie. life without her had proven miserable, and he didn't want to be without her again. and so he set an appointment at the tiffany store and, (with a lot of help from lisa) picked out a ring he hoped would be good enough to get a 'yes' to the world's scariest question.

will you marry me?

he wasn't ready just yet to pop the question. he still needed to get a plan together. figure out the perfect way to do it. he only got one shot at this, after all. there was no chance that johnny was going to half-ass this. so tonight, he wanted to feel it out. see if minnie was in the mindset for marriage or wanting to wait. get ideas about what he should do to lead up to the proposal? dinner? a trip? would she want something intimate or a grand gesture? the dancer hoped tonight would give him the answers he needed to make the perfect proposal.

chan: my brain is a little fried and i apologise if i disappoint with my question. were we supposed to hang out tonight? i can't remember.

a natural head tilt came from his question. an answer much heavier to say when her relationship with johnny could go in either direction. "i am." she answers. tucking a hair strand behind her ear, minnie's tone changes from her chipper and high voice. "it's complicated. i want a future with johnny. you know? marriage, kids, annoying him for the rest of my life. i don't know. it seemed like something or someone would always came to ruin what i had with johnny." she sighs, unsure of where she was going with her sentence. "everything is so unpredictable, and i hate it. sometimes i feel like this job gets too overwhelming that my wants and needs don't take priority, and that isn't fair. i should be able to say what i want without being afraid of the repercussions." she sighs, swirling the liquid from her drink. "are you happy, oppa? is there anything you want in life but afraid to take it for yourself?"

her excited response earned a smile, his gaze and features full of affection. it was clear she was have a good night, the drinks and party doing the work as they should. he envied her youth. when was the last time he had party like that? just thinking of the hangover had his head spinning. ❛ yeah i think so too. ❜ he accepted the compliments, knowing he felt the same, if not more so about his date. he was a lucky guy tonight. he nodded along, noting her excitement about the drink. he wasn't usually a fruity drink guy himself, but if she was raving about it, it couldn't be that bad. although, he had to wonder if it was the drink or just her. the way the words tumbled from her lips at such a rapid speed was impressive. ❛ oh? that does sound pretty complicated. ❜ he offered her an empathetic look, knowing how difficult relationships could be, especially in the industry. it must have been weighing on her for some time if she was sharing it so willingly with a near stranger. the least he could do would be lend an ear and maybe an encouraging word or two. ❛ are you happy? ❜

a meeting that minnie had dragged for months was finally here. like ripping off a bandaid though she knew that the wound had fully healed. while she had no bad memories of changkyun during their relationship, she also knew that she took part of their breakup. ultimately putting a sour taste into a friendship that she wanted to build with the monsta x rapper. things should be fine now, right? minnie heard of her ex being in a relationship for some time, and even she had to admit that they were a lovely couple based on the interactions she would notice. this had to be a part of her growth if she wanted to heal from her issues. start a new chapter with changkyun as a friend instead of an ex.

"you didn't think i would show?" her eyes widening at the slight accusation but she couldn't blame him given their history. "fair. i'll give you that. i did think about skipping but i put my big girl pants on today." her nerves getting the best of her by taking another unnecessary sip of her water. "the only thing i ordered was the water. should i have ordered more? i can call over the waiter.." she offered, her back straightening as she glanced around the room to spot the man. "sorry, i should have messaged to ask what you would like."

closure was an important role with any split. ask questions that might be too painful to hear. for changkyun, it was a necessity to speak freely. a habit he picked earlier in his career, and he was blessed to have hyungs that taught him that trait. the only issue he had with minnie was that. scared to speak his truth due to his feelings for her all of those years ago. except, things were different now. changkyun was in a better place in his life, had a girlfriend who he loved and was confident in that relationship. as far as he heard and witnessed on a few occasions was that minnie was also romantically involved with johnny. the two seemed happy. it was a new chapter for the exes. he'd be a fool not to take the dinner opportunity. ask what he wanted, and finally start their new journey of being friends.

"stand you up? no, that's not in me to do. i didn't think you would show." he joins her nervous laugh with one of his own. the man slips into his seat, placing his phone screen facing down on the table to free his pocket from the weight. "have you ordered anything? should we wait to have a meal or do you think this conversation will get too ugly that we might not finish the apps before we run out the door?" his smile there to lighten the tension.

a quiet but high squeal left the woman's lips at the announcement of the baby's sleeping schedule. not much of an expert when it came to newborns but she would learn quickly if that meant seeing and holding an adorable bundle of joy. "ee!" minnie happily took steps indoors, trying to keep her excitement from getting out of control. "she's beautiful, unnie!" a more quiet whisper came from her squeal when walking closer to the baby. "i should have brought her a crown to go with her new title." minnie says, removing her shoes and getting comfortable on the couch before doing any sudden movements to hold the little one. "have you been getting any sleep since she arrived? how are you holding up?"

"You are right in time." Jisoo greeted them as soon as she opend the door, a tired yet happy expresion decorating her features as she moved to welcome the guest in their home. "She just woke up from her nap." Newborns slept quite a lot yet Jisoo still was exhausted but loving every moment of it. The idol's livingroom had been turned into a cozy place with a baby rocker next to a pile of baby clothes jisoo had been folding as she watched her baby nap. "There she is, the princess of the house."
