Sara Duterte Slams Inept Marcos Gov’t: ‘Filipinos Deserve Better’
Vice President Sara Duterte is dismayed with how the Marcos government is running the country and the resulting poor state of affairs.
Duterte issued a stinging rebuke of the government’s alleged shortcomings, lamenting the nation’s lingering poverty and other hardships.
In a statement on Facebook, she took a swipe at dishonest and selfish government leaders, the absence of a national flood master plan, the poor healthcare system. She also criticized government’s alleged deference to foreign bodies like the ICC, asserting that Filipinos deserve much better.
“Ang Pilipinas ay pinamumunuan dapat ng mga taong may malasakit at kakayanan para itaguyod ang malinis na pamahalaan at pag-unlad ng bayan. Subalit ang Pilipinas ngayon ay pinamumunuan ng mga taong walang katapatan sa trabahong sinumpaan. Kaya ang tanging nananaig sa atin ay takot para sa kinabukasan ng ating mga anak,” she said.
She expressed frustration with the country’s poor state under the current leadership, saying many Filipinos are still poor and hungry due to certain power-hungry politikos.
The country’s veep called for better governance to uplift the lives of Filipinos.
“We, Filipinos, deserve more than what we are hearing and seeing from the government right now. We, Filipinos, deserve better. We, Filipinos, should be the best,” she said.
The Vice President issued the statement in response to the security support promised by several Muslim tribes. She appreciated the gesture, but stressed the country’s security is more important.
Duterte earlier saw her security detail reduced after PNP chief Rommel Marbil reassigned 75 cops guarding her to Metro Manila for peace and order efforts.

Sara Duterte takes a swipe at Marcos gov’t, but won’t it backfire?
Nearly two months since she resigned from the Marcos Cabinet — a clear signal of an intent to break ranks and go on a divergent path — Vice President Sara Duterte took a swipe at the government, openly criticizing how the country is being led.
In a lengthy statement that seemed more like a contra-State of the Nation Address speech on Wednesday, August 7, the Vice President did not mince words, declaring that “Filipinos deserve better.” Duterte released the statement a little over two weeks after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. delivered his third SONA.
The contra-SONA is traditionally delivered by the political opposition as a reaction to the President’s speech. But the Liberal Party said Sara Duterte can’t claim to be the political opposition since the qualities of an opposition leader “cannot be seen in her track record.” (READ: Who is the real opposition leader and why can’t it be Sara Duterte?)
Duterte declared: “We are extremely tired of seeing our country being left behind, treated as if it has no value, unappealing, and submissive to other nations. We, Filipinos, deserve more than what we are hearing and seeing from the government right now. We, Filipinos, deserve better.”
