The tapping of his keyboard filled the silence within his dark room. His eyes going blurry from staring at the screen for hours and hours. The loud ring coming from his phone on his bed snapped him out of his focus. Ray rubbed his eyes and reached over to his phone. His eyes brows raising in confusion. Why.. is she calling me?

He answered the phone to hear small whimpers on the other end.

“R-Ray..? Hello?” a trembling voice made out.

“You sound scared. What’s wrong?” He asked, slightly beginning to get worried.

“It happened again. The dream.. this time I couldn’t escape. He got me! I was so scared. Before he was able to hurt me I woke up! What if this is a sign?? This reoccurring dream has to mean something-“

“MC, no one will ever hurt you. I’ll always protect you. I won’t let anyone even get the chance to hurt you. You know that, okay? Let’s take some deep breaths. In.. out. In.. out. Feeling better?”

“Yes. Thank you Ray. I’ll always remember you will be there to protect me. Goodnight.”

The beep of the end of the call was the last thing he heard.

Ray shook his head and smiled softly. He felt comfort in being her protector.
