Is Milcery related to miltank in anyway? I read somewhere it’s largely similar to cake batter which contains milk? Also how does the embryonic development of a milcery happen? Does the yolk get mixed in with the body?
No, they’re not related, although their cells do have a composition somewhat similar to Miltank milk- although it’s less specific to Miltank, because they share compositional similarities with human milk as well. Just, general milk-like structure, overall.
It’s interesting, actually, how they develop in embryo! The yolk, of course, gets fertilized like any other egg, but during development the Milcery inside will break through the vitelline membrane and absorb a large amount of the thicker albumen (egg white). The structure of the egg isn’t compromised as they don’t draw on the calcium of the shell to make bones, because they don’t have any.
As the Milcery develops in their egg, they continue to expand, and the shell is structured in a way that means that when a Milcery hatches, they don’t break through so much as they sort of... dissolve through the shell, consuming it as they go. This is a very delicate time for the Pokémon, and they’re extremely vulnerable to predators during it, which is why Milcery are on the rare side in the wild. Thankfully, Alcremie parents tend to be very attentive.
That being said, it’s apparently also a stressful time for breeders, not only because of how fragile the newborns are, but because they have to invest in tons of stainless steel or ceramic bowls for the Milcery to hatch in for safety’s sake. Each egg gets a single bowl, because there’s a risk of one Milcery consuming the other when two are hatching in the same bowl. I’ve heard it’s a massive cleanup job when they’re done.

Hi! I've recently moved to Kalos, and have deep respect for the legendaries. I'm still pretty new to the religion, and haven't the funds or time to do anything fancy as I'm still settling, but want to make a good impression on my new native pantheon. Do you know of some simple ways of worship for the Aura Trio? Offerings, and how to go about offering them? Things to avoid so I don't anger them?
An interesting question! Worship of the Aura Trio has gone down in recent years, which most people assume is due to their long absence from Kalos. Their revival was quite recent, and while active worship has increased due to it, it’s still an overall downward trend.
Traditional methods of worship usually revolve around Xerneas primarily, as it is historically the most benevolent of the trio. They rarely have specific places of worship. Pilgrimages to Geosenge were traditional for many years, but with the upheaval of the ruins I don’t believe it’s taking place anymore.
Nowadays. most people do private worship in the form of honoring the three with charms, hung in the home and believed to be attached to their respective Legendaries spiritually. You can get these charms in a few shops, usually in Geosenge, and I haven’t heard much about offerings, so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Stopping at the charms once a day for prayer is common, and it’s also usual to bring the respective charms to a funeral or to a birth.

Do you know of some favorite foods/gifts of Mr. Rime? My old neighbor/dance teacher has one, and both of them have helped me become much more self-confident and discover my love for dancing. My neighbor and their Rime share a birthday, and I want to make them both something special to thank them for how much they've helped me in life. However, I don't actually know that much about Mr. Rime care and what they commonly enjoy. Thanks for reading!
What a wonderful bond! It’s always great to be able to share something special like that with people and Pokémon alike.
If I were you, I’d bake them a shared birthday cake! Psychic-types usually love sweets, and on a special day it would be much appreciated to have a treat they can share. Mr. Rime also have high metabolisms, so they do eat quite a lot of fatty foods to keep running.
Just make sure you use Pokémon-safe ingredients- most flour and eggs and such are safe, but some icings can contain harmful chemicals. Most Pokémon-safe edibles are packaged with a small sticker of a Togepi, so just look out for that when you’re shopping.

Hi! I recently got an Appletun named Mrs. Lovvett, and I adore her to death, but I'm a bit worried due to her Pokedex entry. I'm not native to Galar, so I don't know the customs, so hearing that 'children eat the flesh off their back' has me a little uncomfortable. I know the Pokedex is prone to misinformation, so I turn to you! Is it normal to eat LIVE Appletun flesh in Galar? Is it ethical? Does it hurt the Appletun? Should I be worried of people trying to eat my Lovvett alive?
Oh, this is a fun one! I had heard of this too, and oh boy, I was scared as well, but the answer is far less macabre than you might expect.
Much like most Dragon-types, Appletun go through a yearly shed, to replenish their scales and hide. However, during their shed, the long bumps on their back- affectionately referred to as ‘pie stripes’- will peel off entirely, leaving them smooth up there for about a week before more start growing in. It’s this that’s a common snack for children!
The pie stripes are light and somewhat crunchy. They’re actually made up of layers of skin- gross, I know, but it apparently tastes sweet and fruity. The loss of the pie stripes doesn’t hurt the Appletun at all! In fact, they’ll often need help stripping them off, as a pie stripe can get infected if it sticks around too long. In the wild, they’re usually eaten off by bird Pokémon, but around humans they make a good treat! Nobody will be trying to eat Ms. Lovvett alive, just the dead skin on her back.

i have the chance to adopt a toxel and im so happy! but ive never had a poison type, or an electric type... how should i prepare for the little guy? and is there anything i should know about toxel and toxtricity?
How fun! Toxel are real bundles of joy, and they can be really fulfilling to raise.
The first thing you should know is that when they’re very young, the most important part of a Toxel to keep healthy are the pads on their hands and feet, which are rubbery in texture. They use these to channel their electricity into the ground and avoid electrocuting themself and others. If they tear or otherwise get injured during growth, it can cause issues with their abilities when they get older, so make sure they’re clean and healthy!
Unlike most Electric-types, Toxel create electricity by manipulating chemical reactions in a specialized poison sac. This poison runs throughout their bodies, so making sure they have a well-balanced diet when young is crucial. Supplementing standard Pokémon kibble with food-acid (a common practice for Poison-types) is good, but you’ll also need to add pH balancing medication which will keep their poison sac at a healthy level.
These medicines are easily purchased from any Poké Mart... in Galar, that is. But it’s not like Toxel are legally allowed to leave their native region anyway.
Other than that, a standard setup for baby Pokémon will suffice- a plastic tub for baths, a low fleece bed and non-shattering chew toys. Hopefully you’ll have a happy life with your new friend!

Hey, owner of a Hatterene here. Does this little goblin in a fake dress even like me? I'm so goddamn tired of groaning of pain after I stub my toe and getting slapped by it for having a reaction to pain, how do I continue life with this grumpy pokemon?
It can be... hard to tell. Hatterene are notoriously difficult Pokémon to deal with. They even drive away their own children not too long after hatching due to being too emotionally compromised with their needs. It makes studying them and breeding in captivity utterly hellish, even compared to some of the toughest Pokémon care in the world.
Unfortunately, a lot of dealing with a Hatterene involves protecting against accidents rather than avoiding them. Padding corners of furniture, avoiding areas with heavy emotional toll, et cetera, et cetera. The fact that she’s stuck around you so long most likely indicates that she cares for you.
Thankfully, if you eventually find that you can’t properly care for her anymore, there are places to go. Some Trainers in Galar spend their entire lives going through extensive therapy to train themselves to minimize negative emotions, letting them care for the Hattrem line the easiest of anyone. These Trainers can be found in Ballonlea only, so you might have to make a trek (and pay a fee), but at least the option’s open.

Hey! A while ago, a friend of mine expressed interest in having me babysit their young kid every now and again. However, when she found out about my pet Gulpin, Clyde, she seemed hesitant, saying she was worried about Clyde trying to eat the kid. I accommodate having a poison type in every way, so her concern is less about his toxicity and more about his appetite. I can't find any myself, but has there ever been any evidence to substantiate her concern?
Your friend is almost certainly scared of an old urban myth that started in Hoenn a few decades ago. It came around because of a tabloid that overexaggerated a story of Gulpin who happened to feed on human remains due to a hospital that was improperly disposing of waste in their habitat.
It’s important to remember that Gulpin are opportunistic scavengers; they rarely attempt to catch anything that’s alive, and all cases in which they have are severe situations of starvation. And even in those situations, they hunted for other Pokémon, not humans, and even those Pokémon were injured already!
Essentially, let your friend know that assuming that your Gulpin is properly fed (which I hope he is), then there’s no chance of her son being swallowed. Even if it turns out he is hungry, he’ll probably go for your garbage first, and anything alive last.

My Hydreigon had been my only pokemon until a few days ago, when he took a few bites out of the tail of a pretty dumb Slowpoke. So now I guess it is my job to care for that Slowpoke and I brought it home. Slowpoke seems to be living in his own world, and Hydreigon is really perplexed and a bit outraged about this new addition, but Slowpoke acts more like a pillow than a Pokémon so he doesn't feel the instinct to attack him (thank Arceus). Do you have any idea on how to help them become friends?
You’re essentially going to have to take this carefully and slowly. Even though your new Slowpoke friend is lazy, if you push them together, it’s quite likely that Hydreigon will attack, as they’re one of the most territorial Dragon-types we know of.
My advice is really just to let them exist side by side for a while. Let them hang out outside of ball, but don’t force them together. Your Hydreigon will eventually get curious about him and investigate further, and such a placid Slowpoke will almost certainly accept any ministrations. Really, it’s just patience and a careful eye now. Good luck!

How common and difficult is it to get a fossil Pokémon under the average persons care? It seems like that would be more difficult, especially with the issues regarding the personal collection of fossil specimens! Can the museum still use a fossil sample after its been used for cloning purposes?
To answer this question properly, I’m going to try and answer this question backwards.
First of all, when cloning a fossil to reconstruct a Pokémon, it’s important to know that the process is incredibly destructive to the fossil in question. Most useable tissues and traces of DNA in a fossil have been destroyed through thousands of years of pressure and fossilization, so to obtain the necessary cells, it has to be almost entirely crushed and processed. Most of us prefer to use smaller fossils for this purpose- a lot of the bigger ones are more useful whole than crushed apart. So no, you can’t use a sample after it’s been used, because it’s essentially dust.
Despite the jokes about instantaneous fossil reconstruction, reanimating Pokémon does actually take quite a lot of time. It also takes a great deal of space, as it requires a great deal of materials. Synthesizing bone, tissue and organs is a very labor-intensive process! Plus, when it’s done, the Pokémon produced will have to go through a physical and mental regimen that ensures that it’s healthy and stable. So it can take up to a month to get a Pokémon after submitting a fossil.
There aren’t really any direct limitations on obtaining a fossil Pokémon, but due to all these factors, it’s not very common for an average Trainer to do so. Also, you’d be surprised at how little an issue personal specimen collecting is nowadays! In fact, it’s less personal collections that cause issue and more government restrictions on archeological digs, especially in historical sites. There’s definitely value in preserving historical areas, don’t get me wrong, but those protections often come with a lot of red tape and complicated legalese. Nacrene has been trying to get permission to do a professional dig in Relic Passage for years now, but we’ve never gotten it, so instead we hang around there a lot to investigate definitely do not violate Unova League historical protection laws. I promise.

Geralt: Love is a weakness and an evolutionary mistake.
Eskel: You’re literally making a Valentine’s Day card for Jaskier right now.
Geralt: *pointing glue gun threateningly* YOU ARE ON THIN FUCKING ICE RIGHT NOW.

au where renfri the bandit queen comes across baby jaskier (did she accidentally murder his parents in a robbery gone wrong?? oops) and at first doesn’t want much to do with him but eventually her + her bandits end up raising him. blaviken doesn’t happen, and jaskier becomes a bandit prince/bard who writes ballads about his exploits and infuriates the authorities by being impossible to hunt down. the bounty on his head grows larger and larger until, one day, he catches the attention of geralt ……

Please consider something like the fic you just reblogged (geralt helping jaskier bandage his hand) happening in delicate sensibilities verse
Jaskier gasping sharply as the knife he’s using to gut the rabbit for the dinner slips and catches the palm of his hand.
Geralt rushing over the moment he smells blood, checking Jaskier all over, trying not to panic.
Spotting the wound on Jaskier’s elegant hand, a horrible red gash in his beautiful soft skin, and Jaskier makes a self-deprecating comment and he’s smiling wryly but it’s slightly pained, and Geralt can’t stand to see him like that.
Ripping a bandage from the bottom of his shirt without thinking about it, knowing only that he can’t bear to see Jaskier hurt. Cupping his hand with care, stroking the back of his hand to soothe him, assuring him that he’ll be safe, that Geralt will look after for him.
Softly, tenderly wrapping his hand in the bandage, giving him a quiet smile of reassurance. The skin of his inner arm warm and smooth beneath his fingers. As he ties the bandage off his eye is caught by Jaskier’s exquisite wrist, the alluring lines of the forbidden.
Spurred by a moment of madness, pressing a kiss to the skin there, lips touching this place of highest intimacy. The little gasp Jaskier makes when he does, the ways his cheeks colour, pink and warm and compelling.
