Last week in review

This week has been pretty good except for having to pick up a dead animal from the road. It was in the center turn lane situated right where I have to turn into my driveway. Thankfully I garbage pickup is a short way away.

We got a lot done with projects around home today.

This week we went to the havurah and read Va'etchanan. What caught my eye and why is how Dvarim ( Deuteronomy) expounds on the requirements for Israelites which calls for greater requirements to help one another. Just look at the 10 commandment and compare it to its introduction in Shemot (Exodus). Other members of my havurah noted the strangeness that still the Israelites were about to enter Ertz Yisrael but still talking about the institution of slavery.

Today we have accomplished a lot in the US and in terms of marriage equality a lot in a relatively short span of time. That being said alongside the advances and victories in human rights and civil rights we still have to guard the accomplishments so we do not forfeit them through complacency and working to do the right thing. We should, for instance, not have to have courts tell the US government that they need to provide minors who crossed into our country and are in detention centers with edible food, soap, toothbrush etc
