okay i honestly really only ship Espilver; for whatever reason, that's the only ship in the entire franchise i'm super gung-ho about. i don't know if people still use the term OTP, but that's what Espilver is for me. i can't really see him ending up with anyone except Espio, largely because, like... well, you watch the Silver & Espio story in Sonic Rivals 2 and tell me it doesn't read like Espio seeing Silver and having an, "Oh no, he's hot! Wait do I like men?" moment. it's very good.

i do occasionally reblog other Silver ships because i can appreciate the art style and also... i think having variety in your exposure to ships keeps you normal. seeing things i personally do not ship but reblogging art of them anyway for folks who do... that kind of thing kind of innoculates you against getting weird and toxic about shipping discourse. Sonilver, Silvaze, Shadilver, etc — these are not ships i'm into myself, but those who do ship them are my brothers. i have friends in my life who enjoy the ships that personally squick me out (Mephilver, Silvurge, Whispilver) but they're still my friends, you know?

i am getting off track — you asked about headcanons, and i do have those! not many, but these sre the ones that spring to mind

i think Espio fell for Silver first, and was totally taken aback by it. his awkwardness around Silver in Rivals 2 is so unusual for him; he's not like that with anyone else! he totally loses his composure.

i honestly do not think romance had even been on Silver's radar, like, at all. in fact, i think this continues to this day — i think he's so focused on his mission and his own business that it doesn't even occur to him that he could date someone.

i think everyone else would figure out Silver also has a crush on Espio long, long, long before Silver actually realizes that's how he feels. like... i don't think Silver would even realize that the way he feels about Espio is a romantic thing. i honestly think he would probably confuse it for some sort of anxiety or maybe a function of his mild precognition. he would know that something about Espio makes him feel weird, and historically his gut has been right about that.

i think they'd be a very cuddly couple. Espio, being cold-blooded, just splays out across Silver, who is fluffy and soft and radiates heat. i love the idea of them just napping together like that. especially since Silver probably hasn't had that much physical contact — i'd imagine he's a little touch-starved
